Beretta PX4 .40 full size
In a moment(?) of stupidity I sold my only .40 pistol and I’ve been looking for another being I have a couple thousand rds. of ammo. Fast forward to last week when I see a local gun pusher listed a full size PX4 in .40 on his site.
I’ve read the rotating barrel makes the pistol soft recoiling.
Anyhow, I plunked $100 down on it. It may be a month or so until I can pick it up.
Anyone have any experience with these?

Just the Compact (bought new-surplus from a CA police department for $329): accurate, reliable - great gun! My favorite .40 to date; the rotary barrel makes even this Compact feel like a nine. Beware that factory extended mags will take some wearing-in before they become reliable.
After a lot of carry

I bought 1 new at a good price around 10 yrs. ago. Nice looking and feeling but it did not do that much for me. Traded it off. You may love yours! We are all different. Bob

My son has the .45 version and he loves it. I’ve shot it and it is very soft-recoiling.

I bought my PX4 .40 years ago in the “C” configuration, DAO but with a 1/2 cocked hammer, so only one pull.
I loved everything about it. As you noted the recoil was very soft for a .40. It was accurate and reliable. I love the looks.
I bought the same gun in 9mm a year later. I have kept that one as I transitioned back to 9mm. I gave the .40 to my son-in-law along with the companion Cx4.40. He loves them.
I carried both Px4’s and they were great pistols. Eventually I wanted to go to a red dot sight and the narrow top profile of the Beretta did not lend itself to that. I now carry a full size M&P 9 with a green dot.
So, from my personal experience, if the gun is in your price range, buy it. You will enjoy it. If the trigger is not perfect for you, it is easy to adjust with a different hammer spring and some polishing.

I believe you will really like it. We have a FS PX4 in .40 and it is a fine pistol. Smooth shooting, nice trigger pull.
We picked this one up many years ago for $375.00. No box and only one magazine, but did get extra magazines. The PX4 is a nice pistol.

One of my biggest regrets is selling my .40 FS "C" version.
It's literally a hand full, but a nice smooth shooter.
If the double action is a little heavy, Beretta has "D" hammer spring for about $10 that helps bring it down a little.

An outstanding and terribly underappreciated pistol. You won't regret the purchase.
