These have been built in small numbers for a few years in Italy for the Euro market and are finally a few are getting imported into the states.
Being a huge fan of the Arsenal Strike One pistol, I knew I had to have one of these. The Ergal is essentially a metal version of the Strike One pistol, but with a few other enhancements. These enhancements include a much better trigger, which breaks at 2.5 lbs and is extremely crisp from a striker standpoint. In fact, its the nicest striker fired trigger I've ever felt.
Other enhancements were taken from the Strike One Speed model and include a fancy slide with cutouts that look cool and reduce weight and fully adjustable sights that no longer are part of the slide's back plate. The front sight is changed to a red fiber optic.
The Strike One pistol's biggest feature when it was introduced nearly a decade ago, was its extremely low bore axis. In fact, at the time it was either one of the lowest bores on any semi auto or THE lowest. Due to that bore axis and a great grip angle, the pistol points very naturally. Aside from being a very low barrel, it also does not tilt and uses a unique design borrowed from the old Bergmann pistol of over a century ago. While it has since been eclipsed in the battle of bore axis by the Laugo Alien Pistol, the Alien's inventor had to resort to a delayed blowback design to achieve that. The Ergal is a fully locked breech design and I'm pretty sure its the absolute lowest bore locked breech pistol in the world.
The Ergal pistol is very high quality and feels great in hand. The frame is machined from solid Ergal aluminum, hence the name. Besides the other enhancements I mentioned, just having that metal frame makes this pistol much more desirable in my opinion. It instantly makes it viable and competitive with the other high end pistols on the market and just gives it more presence.
Accuracy of the Strike One is stellar and this will have that same mechanical accuracy, but the greatly improved trigger will allow more shooters to realize its potential. The Ergal will be imported in small numbers, but I'm not sure exactly how small. This one is #0007.
Anyone have a Strike One? Thoughts?
Here are some detailed pictures attempting to show what I'm describing with this pistol, especially attention to detail.
