AR Stoner AR-15 from Midway USA
I did a search but could not find any recent information on these. Has anyone here bought or used one of these uppers lately? I would be interested in your thoughts on these. Thank you.

I bought one in 2015 for an ar build in 7.62x39 and it has worked out very well. I don't have any recent info on them.

I bought the upper in 7.62x39 on sale a little over a year ago. It was on sale and the price was too good to pass up. It turned into a light project gun in that I did a couple of mods to it that it didn’t need but were fun to do. I mounted it to a PSA carbine lower with no issue. I also mounted a 2x7 scope and had to replace the A2 front sight with a YHM flat top gas block. At lower magnification, the A2 sight would "ghost" the sight picture. Changed out the sling mounts , buffer tube and spring (didn’t need it but I was on a roll) and turned down the FP shoulder by 0.010” to increase FP travel for more reliable primer ignition. First day at the range, I sighted it in within 5 rounds at 50 yards. Accuracy was very good, with 10 rounds in the “X” and “9” ring using Wolff steel cased ammo. Accuracy gets evenly better with my hand loads. I was using the AR Stone 10 round mags, and put 100 rounds down range with only one issue. Had one FTFire using Wolf ammo. FP dimple on the primer; fired the second time. Experienced no other problems with the upper or the magazine. It fed and ejected every round without issue. With my hand loads, accuracy was amazing once sighted in, producing one ragged hole where the X-ring was after firing two ten round mags. This is a very good upper for the price. Finish is a little roug in some places but does not effect functionally.

I have purchased two AR Stoner uppers from Midway over the last couple of years - one 6.5 Grendel and one 450 Bushmaster. Both perform well and seem to be of good quality. They have each mated properly to more than one different lower with no problems.

I have purchased an AR Stoner upper in 5.56 and a CMMG in 300 BLK from Midway; both have run fine and the quality seems very good for "budget". The reason I mention CMMG is that I've heard that Bear Creek Arsenal in Sanford NC makes parts and uppers that they sell under their own name as well as AR Stoner and CMMG. My friend recently bought a BCA upper and is pleased with it. Seems like a really good value for the money.

I did not know this, but went and looked at Midway's listing of uppers.
Dead giveaway: the side-charging uppers. The one I looked at is identical in design and configuration to what BCA offers...
They mention "Gen 2" style. That's the hooked bolt catch with the hex nut to screw it in, exact same as BCA's Gen 2.
Fluted heavy barrel 16"
The M-Lok handguard is identical, with a gap in the picatinny rail. An optics space, and then a spot for the front sight.
Has the same flashhider, too.
AR Stoner $299
BCA $255.99
I have a number of BCA uppers, I like them all. I have 2 rifles with the charging handle, a couple pistols with side charging, one left-side.
I couldn't find anything CMMG related to BCA, but that just means I don't know where to look.

I once had an unpleasant experience with a BCA upper; though it eventually got resolved. I will have to look into this, thanks to all for the replies.

BCA makes a 22 WMR upper, 16" rifle and 10.5" pistol length. Lots of fun.

I have 3 complete BCA uppers. Quality seems pretty good
18" stainless Wylde, side charging 7.62x39 nitrided barrel and BCG, and an AR-10 side charger nitrided barrel and BCG in .308.

I bought two pistol AR Stoner uppers to use with my CMMG .45 upper builds. The standard long skinny AR ejection port was causing ejection issues for the 45acp brass. I built a rifle length and a pistol length. Much lighter than my Olympic .45 uppers. Run good, look good.

I went ahead and ordered one in 7.62x39 along with two ten round magazines. If I don’t like the looks of it, it can be sat aside for a Christmas present.

Delivered in less than 48 hours. This upper has a phosphate finish, so it is sort of unattractive and probably prone to scratches. However, the upper appears to be put together very well. I have no complaints.

I have not gotten around to shooting this yet but I did get the caliber laser etched on the ejection port door.
