I recently purchased a Beretta Mod. 84, .380.
It was purchased new in 1982 and the original owner bought a box of S&W brand .380acp ammo with it. Shot less than a full mag and put it away.
Not shot since. So I got the like new Beretta and a box with 39 rounds of 40 year old ammo. I think I paid a song for the package. I’m almost as happy about the S&W Ammo as I am the pistol

By the early 80's, S&W was getting out of the ammo business. I bought 5-20 round boxes of 240 gr HP ammo at a time, because it was selling for $6.59 a box. I ended up with 800 rounds but only have one full and a partial box left.

S&W ammo and Alcan components were a joint venture between S&W and Fiocchi of Italy. I do know that the Alcan Small Pistol Primer (not magnum) is hotter than a WSP, and requires a .2 grain reduction (of Bullseye) in 38 Special WC Target loads to get the same velocity as WSP ammo.

My F-I-L had a house fire around 1991 and had 200,000 Alcan primers burn up. Pop, pop,,,Pop, pop, pop. (sounds a lot like a firefight between cap guns!

During the ammo shortage while the Covid madness was going on I found 2 boxes of S&W ammo at a local shop. I don't know who brought them in but the first one I saw was a full box of 38spl Nyclads that they sold to me for $35. Then, a couple days later I notice another S&W box on the bosses desk. It was a box of 380 HP. The salesman checked and there was one round missing so he sold me a box of 49 for $15.
I keep thinking I will put this up in the classifieds but I don't know what it will cost to ship ammo.

I am putting this partial box away, but oh I would love to run them just to see how 40 year old ammo would do
