I think people buy GLOCK --just because of brand recognition. They don't realize that other gun makers are producing as fine or better products than GLOCK.

So what makes you think this? Do you think people buy obsolete Colt 1911's for the same reason?

Taurus G2C's are just as reliable at less than half the cost. Several reviews with comparisons on line.

This. It's exactly the same, and maybe worse, with cars. People chase BMWs, Mercs and Audis because of the cachet of their names. However, some basic research will turn up a slew of engineering disasters/lemons they have produced over the last 20 years but have somehow managed to avoid massive recalls ordered by the NHTSA. Many bulk car manufacturers have dodged that bullet, too.

Yes, and I'm not proud of it, either. But I did promptly get out the hand sanitizer, just in case.

I stood on the wing of a P-51 Mustang once, but it doesn't mean I'm qualified to determine if all the hype about it being a good fighter plane is true or not. I have to rely on the feedback from others. But there is a reason it's taken a back seat from first line service, kinda like revolvers and 1911's, to more advanced technology.

Never understood the hate for Glocks. I carried a 27 for a lot of years, then went to a 642-1.

Bought a 9mm threaded conversion barrel for it when I got my 9mm suppressor. Then I decided I'd rather have a Glock 19. I've got so much 40 ammo I thought I might as well try and trade the 27 for a 23. I did and bought a 9mm threaded barrel for it. Since I didn't plan on carrying it, I put a Crimson Trace green laser on it...just for fun.

It's super practical and a lot of fun to shoot. I wouldn't hesitate using it as a carry gun thou. I've never had a problem with the 27 or 23.

I have never understood the "but, but, but Glocks are ugly" mantra. I have long scoured the web and have yet to find a single documented instance where bad guy yelled: "stop! you're not going to shoot me with something gaudy, are you?"

July 17 Greenwood mall Indiana ...... Reportedly..... Civilian stops mass shooter firing rifle. Engaged at 40 yards. Shot ten times in 15 seconds with eight hits using a Glock 19.

When my LEO brother got switched to a Glock 17 from his S&W M&P .38 in 1985, we took that 'ol ugly plastic thing out for a test run. I belittled, scoffed, joked, and otherwise demeaned that ugly, blocky, plastic "thing".
After a few mags of 17 rounds quickly on target ...... WOW !! ..... If I've got serious business, I want one of THESE !

Somehow the phrase “don’t feed the troll” seems appropriate here. Who really gives a flying fire truck what anyone without any obvious real world experience thinks of firearm “a”?? Oh yeah and no reason to carry a spare mag either ahahaha

Maybe we should drive the same model car, eat the same food, wear the same clothes and think the same thoughts!!

Ok, I’m grumpy-need some breakfast and coffee, have a great day all.

it has to do with psychology of aesthetics. luckygunner ammo's chris baker and some proponents of 1911s have suggested that when you have an aesthetic connection or appreciation for the gun you feel better, are more capable with it, and enjoy training with it more, thus improving your overall confidence and abilty with the gun. this makes total sense to me, and i believe may be the reason why some people just don't "feel good" with certain guns, glocks being one of those were people often complain about this and that, the grip angle and hump being on the wrong place, etc.

my main issue with glocks is that the m&p 2.0 is just objectively better. even if you do like the way the glock looks( i actually do think gen 5 glocks have a certain aesthetic appeal), the m&p 2.0 still blows it right out of the water.

m&p has everything the glock has and even more, so i don't get why people still prefer glock over m&p. everyone should sell their glocks for m&ps. but they don't because like some have said, glocks have a reputation associated with the brand that makes people think it's MORE reliable than m&p 2.0 when it's not. it's just equal or maybe a bit worse. garand thumb on youtube did a temperature variation tests and other tests and the m&p 2.0 consistently outperforms the glock

Why not let someone make their own choices? Let others choose and purchase and carry what pleases them. I have a Glock or two. I bought them to please me, no one else.
