BG international target pistol?
Dear fellow shooters,
I was Googling on target pistols just for fun. Searching the more unknown and special target pistols.
Such as the Agner M80, Britarms 2000, Baikal Model XP-86 and George Wilson Match 45ACP.
Then I found a mystery to me. Most makes and models I know but this one, never seen, never heard off and nothing to find on.
BG international. A poor looking pistol, missing parts and was offered on an auktion in Austria, starting at 34 euros ( $35) and did not sell. I can not find any info on it. Not one other picture.
Who does now more?

Looks like somebody's idea of a joke, or a bizarre prop of some sort.

No it is not. (of course the trigger is missing and some kind of nut added, for in a display cabinet?)
I found out a little more. It's a Bowers & Gasser. Mentioned in an old German book. See bottom, left.
Googling it does not help. Trail ends.
I do like the looks. Cruel and old fashioned.

Somebody wanted it "deactivated" so no one gets hurt. Wow, starting bid is 35 Euros or $34 USD. I guess that "Euronity" is costing you as much as "green energy" is squeezing us. Hope you have a warm Winter J. Joe

I think I would buy it just as a conversation piece for $34.00. Well not really!

Well, I had contact and it seems it was sold earlier and they accidentally relisted it. Sold for 26,-
Searching for unknown target pistols is fun. I do like this B&G but there seems to be others I like more.
For instance, ever seen this one?
I will make an overview of it soon.

Ugh, I'll never understand the logic behind making competition target pistols these monstrous, unergonomic nightmares that look like squirt guns. I have to wonder if its some sort of psychological thing, like a conscious effort to make them visually distinctive from typical firearms in attempt to make them less threatening or something.
At any rate, I prefer target pistols like the Ruger Mark I-IV, Browning Buckmark, Colt Woodsman, Walther Olympia or Smith & Wesson Model 41, SW22, or 22 Victory.
For larger caliber target pistols, I like the Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match, CZ Shadow II, and of course, the Heckler & Koch USP Elite.

It's about optimizing the performance for a particular discipline, and fitting the ergonomics perfectly to the shooter. Low bore axis, custom stocks, and adjustable triggers, etc. Barrels are often designed to take weights for balancing to the preference of the shooter. The purpose drives the design, and the design results in the appearance. Olympic level shooters don't choose their tools for the looks. And these are the tools they use.
What's ironic is that the USP you posted is far more "unergonomic" than many competition target pistols. High bore axis, blocky grip, long trigger reach....
My Hammerli is pretty useless as a field gun, but then its entire purpose is to shoot offhand bullseye. And it's very good a that.

Well, the USP is obviously a duty pistol, with the Elite model merely being a modification of the design with an identical frame but a different slide/barrel, as is the case with the Tanfoglio/CZ Pistols I mentioned as well.
Also, the USP Elite is easily my best shooting gun. Extremely smooth, accurate, reliable, and low recoil in spite of what its bore access may suggest. They do make a weight for it as well which attaches to the rail mount on the dust cover, I just don't have it nor a use for it.
