I just got mine today. I was at a gun show yesterday and saw the insane prices for AR's and it's variants. Well afterwards I decide to go to my local shop and they have 5 Sig 556's on hand, 3 with Holo sights. Their prices were $400+ less than the gun show so I did some thinking. I even went home to give myself some cooling off time. Well, obviously I went back today and picked it up. Their range was PACKED so I can't tell you how it shoots...yet but I plan to get back soon. I had been doing some research and found that Sig was mainly shipping to bigger dealers and there was a 4-6 month wait.

Just so happens there was a guy in the shop that had just come back from the gun show and bought his 556 without the Holo sight for $1900 so it made me feel even better. I got mine with the Holo sight for $1599. Needless to say he was upset.

So for those of you with one, how are you liking it? Is the "honeymoon period" over?

I got mine (the SWAT version) about August last year. I have since added a EOTECH holo sight and a EOTECH 3X magnifier. I love this rifle. When I first got it I decided to just keep shooting it without cleaning until something(anything) either malfunctioned or broke on it and so far I am approaching 500 rds with absolutely no problems.

I have the pistol. I just installed a Sampson rail, and Eotech sight. Seems easier to clean than my AR's. I like the trigger guard with gloves.

500 rnds without cleaning?! Not that I would do that BUT it's nice to know someone has done it without a malfunction.

The one thing I found funny was the BUIS. With the Holo sight installed, the rear sight is unusable, you can't see through the Holo sight base. I guess I'm supposed to remove the Holo sight to use the iron sights. BTW, I've seen people mentioning the EOTECH Holo sight so I'm curious as to how it compares to the SIGTAC Holo sight?

Have either of you guys had problems removing the pivot pin? I read on the Sig556 forum that it was a big problem (too tight) and most had replaced it with a KNS quick pin. I did order one BUT I had no problems removing my pivot pin.

Tons of 556 information over on the Sister site; SIGForums.com .

I've got an early 556 which has had the grip and forend replaced with real 55X items. GREAT gas system. FAR easier to clan than any AR. Great trigger as well. You di very WELL considering the times we are liviing in.

I'm still waiting to get my notification of membership approval on the Sig556 forum.

Yeah, I know there are people have got theirs cheaper but, as you said, in this day and age I felt it was a good price. I'm sure the price will continue to rise so I jumped now.

I've been waiting for 2 years for approval, Para says I have a verbotin email address for that forum although I have always used it here. In my case with the pistol, the Sampson rail replaces the original rail and the rear sight goes with it. Sampson sells front sights for the 556 rifles/pistols, I always assumed an AR rear flip sight was compatable. But mine is more for coyotes and fun at the range so I'm not concerned with backup sights. They may sell a flip to the side base for your holo.

Well, its nice to know I'm in good company with you guys. I was looking for a 556, and went to the SIGForum to get a little info. When I tried to register, I found that I too am blocked there. Using the same address as here, and several other gun and non-gun forums. Guess WE might be the reason Para is hiding? I've never done anything here to even earn any notice, let alone a rebuke or "suspension" as the current admin seems to prefer.

I emailed the website administrator (Para) about two months ago to inquire as to my status and if it was just a problem with my email domain. Never received a response.

Since I couldn't get any info, I passed on the rifle. Still interested though.

Mine is currently back at Sig to be repaired. I bought one of the early rifles and while I really like it I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 30 yards.

The best I could do with 6 different manufacturers of ammo in 3 different bullet weights was 7 inches at 100 yards. I even tried two different optics.

Sig customer service has so far been excellent, and the rep told me that some of the early rifles had "bad" barrels.

I am hopeful that it will provide reasonable accuracy when I get it back. As mentioned above, other than the accuracy I really like the thing.

I should note that I signed up at the Sigarms556.com forum, not the Sig forum. I don't own any other Sigs so the 556 forum made more sense. Besides I didn't see nearly as much 556 info on the Sig forum Para runs.

Marc1911, are you over there? I saw a similar post concerning older barrels being off and therefore not grouping.

I simply lurk at the Sig Forum, there is alot of info if you dig. You don't have to join to look. AR15.com has quite alot as well. I stumbled on the Sig556 forum but was unable to get signed up, I didn't try very hard. I tend to just read, because some of the posters are a bit over the top for my tastes.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for the Sig556 forum authorization but I've read a lot there. I've looked at the Sig forum but just felt like there was more for me on the 556 forum.

I just need to find time to get to the range and start having fun with this puppy.

I love mine. I also have the quad rail pistol. I sent in the Form 1 to make it a short barrel rifle. That sucker is gonna be sweet.

You'll enjoy it. Piston operated. What's not to like?

Well, that's not quite stock...

Looks good man! What all have you done to it? Is that a folding/extending stock?

Thanks!
It's the SWAT version. Yes, it does have a folding/collapsing stock. It also has a Grip-Light vertical forend grip with a removable tactical LED flashlight. I topped it off with a EOTech 512.

I have a SWAT version, and I also have run about 500 rounds without cleaning. Other than being heavy, I love it.
