SIG SAUER P220 RANGE REPORT
Last summer or thereabouts a good soul posted that a gun shop over in Coatesville, PA acquired a load of Sig Sauer P220 .45 pistols in a trade in from the Connecticut State Police. The advertised deal was too good to ignore so I hopped in the car and drove to the shop and came home with the gun, a hard case and 3 spare magazines. The store described the gun as being in the Condition Two but it looked immaculate.
I didn't buy it to be a safe queen, so yesterday I went up to the indoor range outside Harrisburg and proceeded to hang up a target at 10 yards and started firing. The first 5 shots were up and down the left side of the target as I was getting used to a different trigger than the one on the Model 41 I was shooting first. But then, for the last 15 shots I got more and more of them dialed in and that big gaping hole started to appear in the target. if I can get the rear sight drifted over this gun will really shoot like a champ. Thank you to whoever posted the notice about the shop getting these guns in.
That was a good trip to that shop. I got to meet 31Ford A and I got a good deal on what looks to be a great gun.

I've had one of these for more than twenty years. Mine doesn't have a rail and and the stocks are different, but I think it's basically the same gun as yours.
Comments based on a sample of only one...I seldom shoot anything but cast bullets at 25 yards. I've always been surprised at the accuracy of this pistol. While I've never done a side-by-side accuracy comparison, I'm pretty sure the P220 will keep up with my Colt Gold Cup.
I'm not much of a 9mm enthusiast, but like the P226 9mm I bought new more than thirty years ago, jams, failures to feed, and other malfunctions are unheard of with my P220.

Congratulations on a fine addition to the Family
I currently own P220s chambered in 9MM, 38Super, 10MM and 45ACP. All are extremely accurate and reliable
I acquired my first P220 back about 1978. While I no longer shoot that one, 44 years later I do still own it.
The P220 is one of the finest straight out of the box Combat Handguns I have ever had the pleasure to shoot.
When the choice of what goes on my belt is left to me, I usually select a P220, Here is my current carry P220 along with two of my target P220s.
The slide on my carry gun has been finished in CCR's CP-II plating. It is very similar to Robar's NP3 finish in terms of corrosion resistance and lubricity. That pistol also wears "TFO" Tritium Fiber Optic sights

The P220 as well as other similar models are great guns. I have both a P220 Elite and a P226 Elite and each is outstanding. I would love to get a 220 in 10mm but the price of admission for those is too high.

It is worth every penny. You only have to bite that bullet once 
Over a lifetime of shooting, you will spend many times the cost of the Firearm on the ammunition that you are feeding it. I have been shooting my 10MM P220 for more than 10 years now
A nice feature is that all of the 10MM P220s are built on the 5" Steel frame platform.

It’s hard to justify adding the Sig in 10mm beyond just because I want one. I already have four Colt Delta Elites, a Glock Model 29 and a Ruger Blackhawk 10mm/.40 convertible.
I wouldn’t mind getting a pre-Hillary Hole Smith 610 but reality has to set in sometime.

The only DA/SA .45 acp I own is a Sig P220. That should tell you how highly I think of them.

Welcome to the 220 fraternity. Got my first 220/45 in 88 or 89 and added a few since then. Of all I have, none shoot like that first West German!
Only a suggestion, Don't get caught with only 3 mags!

The P220 is one of my all time favorites. Pictured is a stainless Match Elite, an older W. German, and a Compact version. All 45acp. Also shown are two BDA models in 45acp and 38 super. Both from 1977. The Match Elite will hold its own against the best 1911 platforms in the hands of shooters who are much better than myself.

I drove 100 miles to buy this at a Pawn shop in Savannah, TN after hearing from a buddy about a great deal. I even dickered the price down just a tad.
I shoot my P220 more than my Colt 1911 now.

Golddollar, before moving your rear sight, I’d practice with it a little more, while changing your finger position on the trigger. Also, I would have someone else shoot it to see if the POI changes. I have the same problem when shooting some Smith 3rd Gens and Glocks.
I think you’ll really like your 220; I won’t be getting rid of mine anytime soon.

A pic of my CSP trade in, with wood grips added by me. I have put a couple hundred rounds thru it so far, and it is enjoyable and accurate. This P220, along with my P365 are keepers.

I always thought Colt made the Rolls Royce of .45 autos until I got a P220. I like the DA trigger plus the gun carries and extra bullet. Larry

Got my first a W. German gun in 1988.... it will shoot cloverleafs at 50ft. Not me so much anymore! It was my winter carry for about 5 or 6 years,replacing a Colt LW Commander, until I got a Sig245 the compact version of the 220 6+1 and a 4" barrel.
Later picked up a Ernest Langdon steel frame model 220 (he worked for Sig at the time) and another two tone 245;nickel over blue.
All are great shooters; the alloy frame 220 and 245s are great carry guns.

I took my Sig P220 to the shop to get the sights adjusted for me, and then went to the range 2 days ago to see it that helped. I think I probably yipped on that shot at 4 o'clock but I ended up with a nice group that has the windage centered a lot better. I'll play with it a little more to see if I can now more consistantly lay the shots in at center windage.

Wow a duel .45/.22lr ... or is it a .45/28 gauge Sig.... either way a perfect survival gun!
Can see why you didn't go out for the GCC Rifle Team...... you don't get to pick your POA; it's that small circle next to the "10"!!!
Once knew a guy who like to add the POA after he shot the target! Course his targets also had powder burns!

Actuallly, it's being a cheapskate.  I pulled the target out of the trash because it only had .22 holes on it.

I bought one of those CTSP P220's as well. Siglites are still bright, 4 mags, looks unfired and uncarried. I threw in an Armory Craft SRT kit and springs, currently waiting on Robert Burke to restock his Super Struts. Great deal for $510.

Mine was very dirty as well. It looked more like oil, lint, and dirt than carbon fouling. Once cleaned it looked new.

I took my Sig P220 up to the indoor range to get a little more familiarization with it. I decided for the last string to aim with a center hold. If you see the five big holes, 3 of the 5 are in or touching the orange rings. The other 2 big holes are only about an inch away from the orange rings. I'm real happy with the job the gunsmith did with regulating the sights. This was a good buy.

Good to hear. I shot mine for the first time this last Monday and I was very happy with it. I should have taken a picture of my first three shots at 25 yards. You could have covered the group with a silver dollar. I got so excited, I scattered the next five all over the paper. When I settled down I was popping clay pigeons five out of eight shots.
