I just bought a 1969 Browning Medalist .22 - call it a belated high school graduation present. :)

The 12 page manual clearly tells you how to load, shoot, adjust the sights, disassemble the gun, and how to use the dry fire mechanism.

My recent S&W M&P Metal 2.0 manual spends the first 12 pages telling you different ways not to shoot yourself. :(

I'm not one of those old guys who thinks everything was better way back when; today is a marvel in many ways. But not knowing that shooting yourself is stupid wouldn't be one of those ways.

Or maybe it's just the way society has changed regarding who is at fault after doing something stupid.

My 2022 Nissan Frontier has a manual 1" thick. 3/4 of it is direction to secure child seat, the other 1/4 has no useful information. Any Browning adds class to a collection. Joe

Modern day lawyers have convinced everyone that no matter how stupid or negligent one can be, you should sue the Company. Today, since everyone is sue-happy, Company's must cross every T, dot every I and go out of their ways to make SURE they have explained clearly how dangerous a product can be and basically cover their corporate butts. Hence how ridiculous instruction manuals have become. That said, a really good lawyer can usually convince a jury of almost anything and that the "poor victim" deserves a pay-day - even if HE is the one at fault.
