Lol…I didn’t Miracle Man’s thread was already in the “other” section.

I picked up this RIA Tac Ultra 10mm today locally. I’ve had my eye on these since I first started reading about them. I’ve had a couple of RIA’s and I’m happy with their operation. This is a BIG gun! Feels good in the hand, despite it’s size. The slide lock lever is a stretch to reach with a normal grip even though I’ve got fairly large hands. Only came with one mag like all RIA’s do. I’ll have to remedy that. This is the first 1911 10mm I’ve owned since a Delta Elite back before the turn of the century and a prior RIA single stack that I got in a trade, and traded away before I even shot it. I’ll try for a range trip and report in the next couple of days.

Need a range report. I had shot a couple of Colt Delta's that belong to a friend. Was not crazy about them. Have seen the RIA's and handled them, but not shot one. I do have a Ruger SR1911 10MM. The ported barrel tames it a bit. Old arthritic hands need all the help they can get.

Very nice

I have been very satisfied with my RIA 1911s. I just wish they made a 6" in 22tcm :)

A threaded barrel on a 10MM is interesting. I wonder of my 45 ACP Osprey will work on it, I have a thread sleve for the 40 S&W USP Tactical. What is the thread pitch?

I developed a subsonic 240 JHP load for the Government's next generation suppressed 10MM SMGs back in 2019. It would make an interesting suppressed pistol load

From what I’ve been able to find, it’s 9/16” x 24 tpi. The funny thing is it’s not listed in any of the specs on RIA’s or Armscor’s websites. I had to google it.

I plan on getting a suppressor for it and loading some heavy bullets to subsonic velocity to try out.

Range report

Took it to the range on the way home yesterday and ran about 150 rounds through it. Performed flawlessly except for three Wolf brand primers that failed to detonate on the first hit. Second hammer cock ignited all three. It’s been a while since I shot a SA 1911 and the trigger took a little getting used to. I gauged it when I got home and it was pretty consistent between 5 and 6 pounds, but there is no take up at all, it’s just squeeze and BOOM! Makes it feel like a heavier trigger pull than it actually is. All targets were at 10 yards and I was all over the place at first. Once I got the trigger and grip figured out, I was much more consistent and had fewer fliers.

My first thoughts of it are definitely positive. I don’t think it had very many rounds through it previous to my ownership, and the fact it fed flawlessly impressed me. It’s a comfortable pistol to shoot, but I won’t be carrying it! I forgot to weigh it with a full magazine like I wanted, but it’s got to be close to 6 pounds. I was shooting 180 gr jacket flat points over 9.2 grains of Longshot. Recoil was noticeably less than the same rounds through my M&P 10mm.

So now I’m shopping for a suppressor. Two that I’m leaning toward are Silencer Central’s Banish .45 and Silencerco’s Hybrid 46. Anyone have experience with these two? Plus I welcome all input on other brands and their cans.

Nice, I have 2 RIA's myself, a 9 full size, and a .40 Commander Tac II. Never had functioning issues. Bob

A buddy of mine bought a single stack RIA 1911 10mm a month or so ago and I was quite impressed with how well that gun shot! Good groups from both 7 yards offhand and 20 yards off bench.

They're definitely on my radar.

Wow, I guess I can’t guesstimate weight very well…Lol

I said I thought it would weigh close to 6 lb. fully loaded, but it’s closer to 4. With 16+1, it’s 61.68 oz. or 3.855 lb. on the wife’s kitchen scale. Still a hefty pistol.

Not bad at all for being the first time with a new-to-you handgun. You will have to reload for the 10mm Auto as factory ammo tends to be pricey and sometimes hard to find.
