Marlin 1891, not a '92
When I first posted about this rifle I thought it was the 1892 because that is what it was sold as. I think the last patent date of 1892 threw off the seller and me. The first variation of the 1891 was tube fed, but side loading. Marlin shortly changed it to tube loaded/fed, hence the 1892 date on this one. There was an over lap in the two models with the only real difference being the bolt and firing pin, which are not interchangeable. One interesting feature of both models is you can swap firing pins to shoot rim fire or center fire 32. The big draw back is availability of ammo, RF and CF. After taking out a mortgage on my house I have a stash of ammo for it.
I have not shot it yet but I did fill the tube with 32 Long Colt CF and it feeds and ejects perfectly. Lady's and gentlemen, the Marlin 1891 32 RF/CF, manufactured in 1893.
Oh, and by the way, the knob on the right side of the receiver is not for take down. You unscrew the knob to remove a side plate for easy cleaning of the action. Pretty ingenious.

And to switch out those firing pins. Nice rifle.
I asked a seller at a gunshow once, which firing pin his 1892 came with. He told me that they only came with one firing pin and it would shoot rimfire and centerfire with the same firing pin. He even swore that he had done it. I just told him "o.k. and walked off". When I did end up with an 1892, it only had the rimfire pin so I had to fit a centerfire pin in order to shoot it. I couldn't afford to shoot it with the 32 rimfire!

Experts abound. I'm not one, but but I have learned a lot about those rifles lately. At $200+ for a box of 32RF squirrel dinner gets expensive.
