Default Gun show visit today.

Went to the Lafayette show this morning for the specific purpose of putting hands on a S&W FPC and a Ruger PC.
WOW! Let's just say I was underwhelmed by the FPC! Stock was SHORT had to really creep into it to get a shoulder weld. As far as trying to get a good cheek weld and use anything other than folding AR sights-forget it.
The Ruger on the other hand was a good deal heavier had a full size stock and the sights supplied were very comfortable getting a sight picture.
As an extra bonus, I was able to get hands on a Kel Tec. Again, same problems with the S&W regarding cheek weld and getting a good sight picture, but at least the Kel Tec HAD sights and I was able to creep up on the stock and get a good sight picture.
I'm NOT going to be putting anything on these other than apeture sights for the Smith and whichever gun I settle on will be carried in my truck or on a boat.
As far as my preferences in order, the Ruger, the Kel-Tec and te Smith I just liked the way the Kel-tec felt against my shoulder as well as the way it folded better than the Smith. I was surprised at how much I disliked the Smith as I really wanted to like it.
Price wise the Ruger was $100 more than the Smith or Kel-tec and if you get the Smith you will have to spend at least $100 for a good set of folding AR sights.
I would have bought the Ruger right then, but I wanted one with the mag pul stock so I can keep the pieced together when broken down.
As far as the rest of the show:
The guy with all the old pythons was there gagging on them;
BUnch of new brands, canik or something like that;
A boat load of AR pistols
Business seemed brisk as I was continually watching 4473's being filled out but I didn't linger long as the only reason I went was to handle in the flesh the above carbines.

OMG, LMBO.....Canik has been raging for several years now.
Maybe they've just never taken off in your market.

Oh, and for duty aboard your boat? The KelTec. Smith didn't impress me, either, and Ruger is very porky.

Around here the two top contender for PCC's are Kel-Tec and Highpoint. I don't have a dog in this fight as I'm a Marlin Camp 45 and M-1 Carbine guy. But playing with friends PCC's, I find the Highpoint to be mud fence ugly and very reliable guns! Besides the looks, the proprietary low cap only mag are a deterrent.

The Kel-Tecs have some pretty nice features. The only necessary add-on would be a 1" but extension. Some come with the carry case some you need to buy a case. Every one I've seen uses Glock mags, but others are to be had.

Totally OT, but I read this so often I must assume all American males have incredibly long arms or else they were all taught to shoot by assuming a position that stretches across a couple of zip codes.

If you want a lightweight, compact, reliable carbine look no further than a U.S. GI M1 .30 carbine with a replica paratrooper stock. Considerably more money than a KelTec but a far better firearm.

My Ruger PCC9 is anything but light, but, it is reliable as any gun I own. And when shot with a bipod or other sturdy front and rear rests it is remarkably accurate out to 100 yards.

I will note that the KelTec Sub2K has an adjustable buttpiece on the stock that lets you extend it about an inch - see the three holes? As shipped, it is usually in the shortest position so shouldering a brand new one will not let you experience the maximum length of pull available.

I also added a Missouri Tactical buttpad (about $15 from Amazon) that is made for the Sub2K. It slips on securely, adds a little more length, softens the hard edge of the buttstock, and is notched at the top so as not to interfere with the folding feature.

I have a hard time with the stock sights so I added a red dot sight on a 45 degree mount, that doesn't interfere with folding either. I shoot long guns left handed, and canting the gun clockwise also points the ejection port more downward and away from my face.

On the Ruger PCC, I wanted more distance between the sights so I replaced the front sight with a riser made by TACCOM Front Sight Rail for Ruger PC Carbine | Taccom3g and put on some folding back-up sights. My informal testing shows the increased sight radius shrinks groups about 25% or so. They do add some bulk though, and are kinda ugly.

Go ugly early. Your sploution to the sights on your RUger may have very well irreversably tilted the scale to the Ruger.
Might have to get both

I sold many of the KelTec Sub 2000's, I don't remember ever having a complaint about them...The FPC is new to me, I've never even held one..****ger carbines have always been quality guns...The only carbine I own now is my Marlin Camp .45 seen below......Ben

Since you mentioned it, Canik handguns are made in Turkey and are affordable and have a very good reputation for quality. They're not the only ones. SAR handguns from Turkey are excellent as well (Sarsilimaz dba SAR USA or something like that.)

Here's just one commentary on Turkish handguns:
