Heres's another from the collection. An 18th Century percussion. Nothing known about it, but I think it may be a Naval model. It's very heavy too and quite a size.

I had found a number of online pages with similar pistols but hadn't come across that one, (I see that you posted the images, rather than a link.)

I had seen the "Mortimer" name, though. And I had read that flintlocks were often converted to the new percussion system.

My Remington Model 14-1/2, serial 20043, caliber .44-40 (aka .44 WCF) Based on the flush "REM-UMC" ammo indicator, the receiver not being tapped for a tang sight, and the last patent date on the barrel "Nov.19.12" I'd peg this rifle as around 1913 production. The DCP Canadian proof indicates it was part of an order for 4,000 in 44-40 for use during the First World War. These rifles were scattered all over the Empire, and at least one (serial 34292) is in the Imperial War Museum.

Not pretty like most shown here, but still functional and ready for use every day. The is a Winchester Model of 1912 in 12 ga. made in 1919. It has been used and not well cared for as the external finish shows. It had a Poly-Choke on it (hate those). Had the barrel cut back to 18 inches. It is behind a door with a full mag and 5 extra on the stock. It is chambered for 2 1/2 inch 12 ga. Still a working gun!

I am really enjoying this thread. I was a little reluctant to post this gun because I modified it. I had been looking for an old model 12 to cut down and found this one at Tulsa last year. It was totally silvered from use and had a Polychoke on it. The wood was very good and it functioned like all model 12s do. I had it cut to 20 inches and had the muzzle dressed up and a brass bead installed. To stay with my Bubba tendencies I cold blued it with Oxpho Blue. I think it turned out pretty well and even gave it a coating of Renaissance wax. It was made in 1922.

Here is another Frontier Six Shooter (Colt Single Action Army .44-40) manufactured in 1914, factory letter says it shipped to El Paso, Texas in 1915. Still pretty capable, 25 rounds at 25 feet, 200-grain cast RN-FP at about 850FPS.

Yep. I wanted a open choked pump to make a house gun. I already had a military model 12 riot gun that I have had since I was fourteen, but I didn't want to take the chance of losing it. The military is severely modified, but it's special to me.

Hand Ejector, Triple Lock, .44 Special, 5" barrel, shipped from the factory in July 1910, serial number 1290, and lettered. It's been in the same family since then.

I had it restored several years ago.

I thought I'd add another pistol, and a couple other items that were made around the same time.

A S&W M&P made in 1915 and shipped to Belknap Hardware in St. Louis, MO. And a Oliver No. 9 typewriter mase in 1914. Also, a Sears Cold Wave fan made around 1915.

.44-40 WCF shipped from Colt in 1919. I had one piece Ivory Stocks made for it.

.45 Colt shipped from Colt in 1899.

Marlin 1889 .32-20 WCF made in 1893.

Colt .45 ACP made in 1918. Has been modified and has a post war hardened slide with a Seried 70 barrel & bushing.

Hopkins Allen Acme Hammerless No. 1 1/2 .22 Short or Long caliber. Made between 1902 & 1916.

Pair of Model 1905 4th Change. Round Butt is right at 100 yo and the Square Butt is a mere 90. Have not fired the RB- possibly unfired, if not still minty as can be. SB also Excellent. Beautiful guns.

To balance out your pretty guns, here's a beater .32-20 from 1903, that, except for the reproduction grips, is uglier than a mud fence.

Yes indeed, it shoots...and it keeps company with a couple of 100 year old Colts. A New Army from 1907 and a Police Positive Special from 1922.

The Marlin 27S dates to somewhere around 1913 to 1916 while the Remington Model 25 just squeaks in at 1923.

How about this old girl - a Winchester Model 1898 Signal Cannon that shoots 10 gauge blanks loaded with 8 drams of black powder.

Winchester began selling that cannon in 1903. It has the early thin barrel and does not have the WP in an oval signifying it was not Winchester Proofed. Winchester started proofing them, and other Winchesters around 1906.

So, this cannon was made between 1903 and 1906 and is in great condition.

She did her thing last Tuesday, July 4th, Independence Day when I fired 20 rounds out of her making a lot of white smoke and very loud bangs from our front yard.

We live in New York State (thank you for your sympathy) but in rural upstate NY. We are out in the country and back 700 feet from the road. Our neighbors being true Americans were pleased.

Here she is.

1914 Erfurt Artillery Luger

There are a few others in the safe of which I am reasonably certain: 3rd Model .38 S&W breaktop, 1891 Argentine Mauser, Remington .41 derringer and an L.C. Smith double and .32 HE that may only be in their late 90s, but I never bothered to take pictures, so here is this WWII bring back that my current bride pulled on me 45 years ago.

Model 3 Russians produced for the domestic commercial market, more or less 140 years ago.

The seven inch barrel has the standard Smith & Wesson legend in English, not Cyrillic.

Chambered in .44 Russian, the serial number is 35896. There is a diamond with the letters SH stamped in the butt, denoting Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, the largest firearm dealer in the United States in 1860.

When this rifle was made, Queen Victoria ruled England, Butch and Sundance were still "wild", the Brits were fighting the Boers in Africa, and Teddy Roosevelt was becoming President. I have only owned it for 40 years but in it's life it's probably killed more deer then General Motors. To be fair, it's also older than General Motors.

I have two Swedish m/96 Mausers that just turned 100, both fine shooters. The one on top is original down to the screws. The disk says the barrel is corrosion free with slight wear. Only 2,169 made in 1924 by Carl Gustafs.

This 160-170 year old English 14 gauge percussion double. It handled the 120 grain overcharge in each barrel with aplomb. Couldn't help but wonder when it was fired last.
