I am looking for a second relatively low cost AR. One of the big websites has the Anderson Optics Ready AR on sale. Anderson is well known for kits and parts. Reviews of their finished rifles are pretty good. Any owners here on the forum that can share their experience?

Don’t know where you are looking but I’d check Palmetto State Armory

Take a gander at CDNN as well. I have built an M4 Carbine on an Anderson lower. Fit, finish and the build were flawless. No issues with function and it ran great!

I have built and shot many Anderson and PSA AR-15's and found them adequate for what most of shooters want in an AR. A few trips to the range a year and getting Minute of Milkjug with cheap ammo.

I think AR prices are as low right now as I have ever seen them. It should be easy to build a sub $500 AR.

A friend and former coworker bought an Anderson AM15 6.5 Grendel dirt cheap. It had a 3x Nikon P223 scope on it. At 100 yards, using steel case ammo, it will stay on a tennis ball for about ten rounds or until the barrel overheats. I think with premium ammunition and a set of hammer/trigger springs along with more magnification the gun would stay on a Ritz cracker until the barrel warmed up.

He gave $375.00 for that gun used.

A few weeks ago I purchased this S&W M&P Sport for $400.00. A sling and matching magazine ran me another $48.00. My granddaughter loves it.

I have never bought a finished rifle from Anderson, but I have a home-built railed AR using upper and lower Anderson receivers. I really haven't heard any complaints from folks who own Anderson rifles. Think they are building some quality parts and guns in Kentucky.

The only small beef I've seen about an Anderson product is that their AR-10 upper is a bit overgassed.

I'd decide if you are ok with the furniture layout on that rifle, before buying it. I would personally prefer something with a free floated handguard, or a standard front sight base (just because I like the look). Swapping the handguard to a free float on that rifle will most likely require a new gas block, so, I'd add in the extra cost of that, and anything else you think you might want to change, vs. buying a rifle that is already set up as you want it to be.

I built an AR based on Anderson receivers that were given to me as Christmas and birthday presents (Christmas and birthday are days apart). I didn't build using all premium parts but the trigger and barrel were improvements. CMC single stage trigger and Shilen heavy SS barrel. Also a free floating handguard but it was a Hogue so not really top-o- the line. Built in 6.5 Grendel. Due to the barrel and trigger it was quite a bit more $ than what you can get now but it Shoots lights out and nary a problem!

I had a 300 Blackout upper I would swap out occasionally and decided I wanted a whole rifle but wasn't in a hurry. About 3 years ago I walked in a small gun shop in Newark, Ohio and they were selling 100 complete lowers for $125 in an unadvertised special. As I walked in, I saw #99 walk out. I took #100! (all gone in 2 days!)

My Anderson lower has a better trigger than what came in my $1495 Windam AR-10!

I have built up a couple of AR's using Anderson "Poverty Pony" stripped lowers. I think I paid about $29 each. They have proven to be just as good as any of the higher end lowers that I have used.
