I put some money on one yesterday. Didn't have time for the paperwork but i will pick it up in the next couple days and post picks. They are also making a 5".
Do NOT go to your FFL and put one of these in your hands if you are a revolver guy unless your ready to drop $1500 because these are the nicest looking revolvers i have seen and i have had a lot of revolvers in 30 years. Especially if you have a weakness for snubbies which i do.
Colt is hitting it out of the park with the new Python line up in terms of looks, fit, finish, and options.

They do look sweet! That’s gonna be a $3000 hit for a lotta guys wanting a full set! [emoji23]

But already having the 3” stainless, I’ll stick with my blued 2.5”.

I had a blue 2.5 inch in the late 70s that I foolishly traded for a BHP that I in turn sold for gas money to get back to the east coast when discharged from Army. I’ll be smart enough not to go pick up one of these new ones.

I was in Alpha Troop 1/17th Air Cav with a Warant Officer named Baxter Harrison, stationed at Ft. Bragg, circa 1979-1983, flying AH-1S Cobras. Not a common name for sure.

I'm not a "snubbie" guy, so I don't see myself buying one, but I'm glad to see Colt bringing it out. I know a lot of Colt fans really like the shorter barrel ones.

I've got a "fetish" for a 4" (ish) barrel revolver, so shorter or longer don't interest me too much. I've even looked hard at the 3" Python, but always hand it back. Not today.

I wish Colt would come up with a short-barreled Python. Not a fan of these "telephone poles." ;)

(Edit) P.S. Haven't been to my dealer in months, illness. I hope they only have one or two of the 2.5" Python. I would hate to have to buy three...

I really hope the 5" barrel is an internet rumor. I'm already snake bit; I don't think I could walk away from one.

I dig it but I’ve had bad luck with the new pythons / anacondas and it’s discouraged me from getting any more

Python

I held the 5" in my hand. No rumor. I am more of a 4" and shorter guy so I passed on getting thatcone as well, but its real. In fairness, my shop is about 3 miles from Colt, and handles all the employee transfers so I think they get things relatively early in the order chain.
I did not hear anything about the DLC ones but I also didn't ask. The owners are friends of mine so I am thinking they would have mentioned one if they had.
That 2.5 blued one looks sweet.

A 5" would have been very nice, but I have a 6" so that ship has sailed. The only other Python I'm interested in would be a snub with the DLC finish.

I don't know a lot about Pythons but it seems like on the original run, the 2.5" was a regular item but the 3" was super rare? So I always thought it was interesting that they came out with the 3" after the 6" and 4.25" in the new run.

Because the 3” was so rare on the originals, I HAD:rolleyes: to get one of the new ones. I’m glad I did. I have an original 4” blued, so I’m GTG. I know the 2.5” and 5” will be extremely popular too. I personally think that Colt hit it out of the park with the new Pythons and Anacondas. It’s about time they had a double action winner………it had been awhile.
