Found this sleek little pocket knife today. It is a Kershaw Leek with copper scales that can oxidize over time. CPM 154 steel blade. Already had a Leek but really like copper, particularly when it takes on a blue green hue. Look forward to seeing the patina develop. I'll put it in the carry rotation.

Anyone have copper scales? Pictures?

Nice looking knife!

I don't have a knife with copper scales, but I do have a Retro 51 20th Anniversary pen with a raw copper body that was made in 2010. It developed a dark patina from handling that would leave marks on shirts, so I polished it out. I rarely use it anymore, but it has already darkened again. The oxidation on knife scales probably won't be an issue, unless you wear white pants!

If those were real copper scales, I’d probably drop $140 for it. Although not full scales, I have a Krudo with bilateral copper and carbon fiber accents. Guess if I want some patina I should polish it. :)

MERCATOR COPPER | Mercator-Knives | Brands | OTTER-Messer

This copper Mercator goes for under sixty bucks on Amazon and a couple of big knife vendors. It derives from the painted steel Kaufmann K55K Black Cat, a knife favored by Wehrmacht soldiers. A number of GIs acquired them in due course and brought them back.

It is a nice flat lockback that carries easily despite its length. Under sixty bucks. I don’t have copper, but I have had the original painted Black Cat, and a brass one by Otter-Messer.

The k55k is a good knife.
