Tisas or gun? I'm sure there's a little more room in your gun safe if you move a few things around:D

Tisas. I have a Tisas 9mm, as well as a modified RIA GI 1911 in .45 and a decommed 2nd Marine Raiders M45A1. Plus, I just heard about the 4th round of 1911's from the CMP and downloaded my paperwork for that.:D

John I thought you were locked-up in the horse spittle! How have you been buying all the guns and downloading CMP paperwork!??

:D

Went in Saturday after lunch, an hour later I had a stent installed and in a bed in the ICU. One day there, one day in a hospital bed and back home. Might as well not buy a lottery ticket as I used up all my luck for a while.

The Tisas 9mm was the first gun I purchased in over a year and the last so far this year. I expect it will be months before I hear anything from the CMP after I turn the paper work in.

I have never heard of this brand. Are these considered reliable? What about reliable enough for serious defense usage?

I have had mine for just over a year or so and have been extremely pleased with it. Some may scoff, but many consider them as well made as other brand 1911's at three times the price. The fit and finish on my 4.25 inch commander sized version is excellent

I've run about 600 rounds through it without a single mishap. I prefer my handguns run reliably right out of the box without any necessary tinkering and the Tisas seems to fit the bill, the only thing I did to mine was change out the grips. I'm comfortable enough with the accuracy and 100% reliability of mine to carry it.

I have one of the 9mm GI versions that was sold as a blem. The only thing that is "blemished" on it is that the park colors on the frame and slide are a bit different. The only other issue I have found is that the feed ramp needs some smoothing as it chokes on HP ammo. FMJ works perfectly. I can't find a milling mark on mine inside or out. It is a really nice 1911, especially since I paid $289 for it shipped with no tax charged.

Thank you. I have wanted to own a GI type WW2 style M1911A1 but do not have nearly the budget for an original, and wouldn’t want to put wear and tear on a historical example even if I did.

I will let the forum decide if I should buy one of these Tisas GI type pistols.

Should I?

PS: I would get some surplus postwar brown plastic grips for the gun as well as the holster rig:

OP that link you provided does not show an blemished for sale - just a 20 percent holiday sale and limited products

Originally the link took you to a page that had several different pistols with sale prices and 3 of them had BLEM in the description. Looks like they are all gone now and just the regular sale remains. That is how the last "Blem" sale went. Fast.

OP: If you got one of the blems and it does not have the brown plastic grips & you want some, let me know. I will ship you the ones off mine. I plan to send mine to Heinie for better sights and change out the grips.

Thank you. I will pick one up. I just bought three USGI contract M1911A1 Check Mate surplus magazines for it.

I have been watching and reading reviews about these Tisas pistols and they are all extremely, extremely positive. They are highly thought of and considered very reliable and well built guns.

EDIT:

I have just purchased a Tisa GI model. I chose the newer GI variant with parkerized finish instead of cerakote and modeled after the Remington Rands. It does have wood grips.

I also ordered a reproduction GI WW2 era pistol belt, M1916 flap holster in brown, and magazine pouch. Plus some surplus brown plastic grips and 500 rounds of Winchester Service Grade 230 grain ball ammunition.
