Turkish 9mm
Anyone have experience with the "Made in Turkey" Tiasa 9mm model 1911 with steel forged slide and frame. I love the old time flavor of all steel guns. Does it measure up to the Colt 1911. I have too many 1911s and thought I might enjoy the light recoil of the 1911 without the recoil. Your thoughts!

The 1911 forum has many favorable comments about Tisas 1911 pistols. I don't own one, but I do have a Turkish made Girsan High Power clone which I like very much, and Two Canik (Turkish made) Rival 9mm's which are superior products.
If you go there you could browse for hours on the comments and reviews. If you go there just to say "tell me all about them" without reading first, don't tell them I sent you.

I do not think I have heard any negative comments about the Tisas made handguns. I guess the finish is a major difference between Colt and Tisas. Colt's carbon steel 1911's have come in three finishes, blue, nickel plated, and phosphate (Parkerized). Tisas carbon steel 1911's are generally Cerakoted, but they also list a couple with a chrome finish.

I own one and have just over 400 rounds through it without any hiccups. It has a surprisingly good trigger right out of the box and is really well built. The finish is holding up well. It came with two sets of grips, plastic and wood and two magazines that function perfectly. I have a Series 70 Colt in 9mm and it shoots as well as it, so for the money, I don't think you can beat the Tisas.

The 1911 must be the most copied pistol on Earth by now, with many manufacturers, including Tisas, perfecting them.

Check out the 1911 forum. You can get all the information you want about Tisas, but you'll never find a better bunch of people than you'll find right here. Once you start reading their forum you'll quickly know what I mean.

tisas 1911
I have 3, a full size 9mm, a compact "Tank commander" in 9mm and another in 45. All function great right out of the box. If you want a no frills 1911 type, these are just great for 4 bills or under.

I have yet to read a negative review on any of the Tisas 1911 models. I have friends who own them and they are very satisfied with their performance and quality. They appear to be well made and reasonably priced (at least for now but they will eventually go up!).

I am well-impressed with all the Turkish guns I've encountered. A friend owns a Tisas 1911 and a 12 ga. auto, the maker of which I forget. I have two Girsan 9mm pistols, their versions of the Beretta 92 and Browning Hi Power. All are excellent firearms.

Reports on Tisas are glowing, and that they are phenomenal for the price.
The newest ones out of the factory have forged slides and frames, and no MIM parts. All internals are machined after hardening.
The new GI models just released are also now parkerized and they corrected a few of the minor complaints from the military purist people such as the lowered ejection ports now being GI sized and a few other things.
I am picking one up from my dealer on Monday in fact. I am excited and plan to post a review.
