9mm for pocket carry

I'd love to pocket carry but hate baggy pants. When I go out walking (with tighter pants) I carry a Glock 43X. Although I don't usually recommend it, I carry with no round in the chamber. Ten rounds in a single stack magazine and very shootable. Just don't plan on a fast draw.

That being said I much prefer a Shield + in a Desantis open top pancake carried at 4:00.

This is my EDC Sig P365 with a TLR-6 flashlight/laser, Wilson Combat grip, 12 rd magazine. I carry it in a suede lined leather holster I made. Notice it has a manual safety. I feel better with a MS carrying a cartridge chambered. I have several pocket guns, but the P365 is my favorite. Go Bravos!

Precisely. And a multitude of other links that could be posted. Gun goes off in man's pocket, wounding child at gas station - CBS Chicago

I'll bet you a dollar this moron didn't have the gun in a pocket holster. Pocket holsters are absolutely mandatory.

I've pocket carried for years with a Kahr PM9 in a FIST Kydex pocket holster. It's a great gun for that, very easy and pretty light.

Last year I had a hankering for a 940, so picked up a 940-1 for pocket carry in a Mika pocket holster. It works fine, but it's much heavier than the Kahr, and holds fewer rounds. Now that I've scratched the 9mm revolver itch, I'll probably find it a new home in the near future.

Personally, I'd want something with a long DA trigger for my first shot. One of the Ruger Semi's or Kahr' might fit the bill.

But you didn't say semi-auto only? Ruger makes the light weight LCR Revolver in 9mm with concealed hammer. But it's only 5 shots.

Please allow me to add my two cents.

When I plan on driving distances, with the only likelihood of being out of the truck is to pump gas (don't know why, just feel super vulnerable in this situation) or stepping into a restaurant to eat, I will pocket carry. Sometimes, reality strikes you when you're handling stuff, but when I was pocket carrying my G42 (w/ grip extension), I realized that the Glock had the same footprint as the P365 Micro. From that point on, a P365 with grip extension and no thumb safety has also become a pocket carry pistol.

Personally, I prefer the original P365 for pocket carry over the taller P365X. Depending on the pockets and the jeans fit, I can vary magazines between a flat floor plate versus a grip extension.

I like to pocket carry this Walther PPS, I also have a shorter mag for it.

I looked at several, including the Glock, Ruger and Mossberg minis. Thought about the Kahr, but I have a DAO SCCY, and not a fan of DAO for quick response. Settled on the 365XL, with a safety. It's a great shooter, and a keeper.

I am becoming very fond of my new Taurus GX4. Bit big for pocket carry though. Often use KelTec 3AT and Kahr .380 as backups or situations where I just need a gun. I prefer 9mm and larger pistols.

When the SIG P365 came out, I thought it had to be the answer to replace my Kel-Tec P11 I bought in 1995 when they came out. (Very low three digit serial.) No doubt the P365 is a "better" gun, but it turned out that the P365 was too big and heavy for my preferred pocket carry. The P11 is significantly lighter than the P365, but has the same 10+1 capacity. The DAO trigger is not great, but it works for me. I have not put thousands and thousands of rounds through it, but it has never failed in the hundred or so rounds I run through it every year. I was shocked to see Kel-Tec drop it, rather than improve it.

The P11 is my choice for a compact 9x19 pistol for pocket carry.

I have a Glock 42 that I like but want more oomph that the 9mm offers. So, I will probably go with the Glock 43. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. Low capacity isn’t a problem. I usually only pocket carry at church, depending on how I am dressed.
A 380 isn't enough for church? Maybe a different church😁?

My pastor is a Jew from New York. Of Russian descent! You be the judge! LOL!

My preference is to stock one caliber of ammo at this juncture.

I have been thinking about pairing down calibers as well. I can get so many modules in the same caliber it only seems prudent.

hard to compare the sccy trigger pull to a kahr especially after you add a wolff reduced pressure striker spring that been reliable on a couple of our families kahr for many thousands of rounds ! have a bout a 5;b pull weight smoother and with no stacking of pull weight .

The 45acp kahr tend to have a 5lb trigger when stock and after some time and rounds fired goes into the high 4lb range , at least my CT 45 does and the mid size runs on 1911 officers mags . Mines use my full size mags after a small notch was cut in the bottom front of the grip like on a 1911 .

I have had a Ruger LC9 for about 10 years. Fits well in a pocket or my vest when I am riding. Have never had an issue with feeding anything I have put through it. Heavy trigger pull, but that is good as it pretty much rules out a AD.

I went with the less expensive EC9S. Disappears is my pocket.
My only wish is if they’d have made it with a stainless slide. There are a couple of spots I have to keep my eye on or they’ll start showing rust.
I’m thinking of having it hard chromed.

I pocket carry my Gen 1 Shield 9 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. Disappears in the front pocket of Carhartt Dungarees, but good draw.

Just my opinion but I think round guns are better in a pocket than square ones.

If the OP is set on 9mm, the 940 is not a bad way to go.
