Default Sobering Issue with P365XL (Update Post 19)

I have been a big proponent of the Sig P365 platform from the introduction by Sig.

Within the past 8 months I decided to transition to the XL model with a Holosun Green Dot mounted and have been putting it through its paces. I have become comfortable with the sighting system and put probably 1000 or more rounds through it.

After all of this I decided it was time to start carrying it and move on from my Glock 43/Standard P365 line up.

Been carrying it for a week or two and made it out to the range today to put some rounds through her. Fired around 30-40 rounds and was feeling pretty good with everything when I started to get a few light strikes.

Within the next 5 or so rounds I was pumping unfired rounds out onto the ground with no primer strikes. The dreaded "Dead Trigger".

It appears the Trigger Bar Spring has an issue as I removed the TCU from the frame and it was just hanging there loosely barely hanging on to anything.

This took me back to when my old police department went to the Sigma and the firing pins were breaking. Scary to wonder how long you had been carrying a handgun that wouldn't go bang while doing police work.

Glad it came undone at the range!

Now the send back and waiting and the forever wondering will it work when I need it. I love the platform and have invested quite a bit in it so may transition to a 365X with the Holosun placed on it.

Guess it may be back to the Glock or another Sig or I may even roll back time to my J Frame days once again.

Check your gear!

Wasn't there an issue with the trigger return spring on the first release P365? Has the same component failed on yours?

Is this possibly a mistake by an assembler who puts the open "hook" at one end of the spring facing the wrong way? Doing so might let it work loose?

There’s nothing wrong w/a J Frame, I’ve been carrying one since 1968.

I prefer a J-frame over these new wonder 9mms.

There was a known issue with the trigger bar spring and has since been rectified. If you feel comfortable with doing the simple replacement yourself, (not hard) I'd call Sig and ask them to send you another. The new ones should not have any issues.

Sig will be more than happy to install it for you should you not want to do it yourself.

My wifes p365xl has right at 3000 rounds fired and I keep extra new spring for all our carry guns . I don't carry a little pistol or a snubby .

Yes, I believe it is a similar issue with same part.

It is possible that it wasn't installed correctly and worked its way lose because it happened kind of slowly all at once, if that makes sense.

I have been watching some trigger replacement videos where this part is also replaced. Doesn't look hard but it is also hard to get a decent slowed down version to watch.

A 3 pack replacement is around $10. A whole new trigger set around $40.

From reading warranty if I send it in shipping is on me. See.s cheaper by a long shot to try and figure it out.

If you have any problems with a Glock you ship it to them yourself. They fix it for free and ship it directly back to you shipping paid.

When all else fails, I go to the gearwheel thing at the bottom of the youtube video and select a slower speed. Yes, it makes the speech all wonky, but it helps.

Stepping through frame by frame is also an option. Pause the video using the "K" key, then step forward ot back using the arrow keys over the comma and period on a standard US computer keyboard. You can also jump backwards and forwards by 10 seconds using the "J" and "L" keys, respectively.

I didn't read anywhere that yours is an older model! Everyone has stated that this used to be an issue but it had been rectified some time ago??? I recently purchased a 365 X Macro and love it. I've put several hundreds of rounds through mine without a glitch.

I did mention it was an XL and I have been moving to it over the last 8 months, so yes it is newer.

I also put around 1000 rounds through it as stated and started carrying it.

I have an original from when they were new and have never had an issue with it.

Have an unfired 365X as well that will probably inherit the Holosun.

Not sure where your statement was/is going but it was covered in the original post and now clarified.

My point was that there are mentions of this with other shooters and you should check your gear. Guns are just mechanical items and subject to fail.
Many just load and carry and assume the best.

The "issue" as I understand it was that some of the employees were snipping the ends of the spring too short causing them to become separated from the hole they are captive in. All that is needed is a replacement spring (cut properly) if you can physically see the end of the spring is too short. This is an employee error - not a design flaw. This happens with Glocks on occasion as well!

When I was stationed one of local law enforcement agencies was required to qual/shoot 10 months out of 12. The first string was the duty ammo that they had been carrying. Good function check for the weapon and ammo monthly!

I have read of folks having QA/QC issues with about all the manufactures. But, I saw this morning that gun sales were up considerably in October as compared to September, and most of us know that sales have been booming for. Few years now. Couple that with the difficulty in finding folks who are willing to work and show up, and QA/QC issues are understandable.

FWIW, while the triggers aren't quite as nice, the Hellcats from Springfield sure are sweet. I shot one yesterday, and it shot VERY well, I managed 5 round groups into about 2-3" offhand at 10 yards, which is about as good as I can do with just about everything else.

Well I misread the warranty mail in information (wasn't listed where I was looking) and if it is less than a year old they cover the shipping.

Shipped it out last week on Monday and got it back today. Quick turnaround.

The Trigger Bar Spring was replaced and it appears to be back up and running.

Now to re-zero the dot and see how she performs. I believe this will become my practice set up and the 365X that I just purchased will become the carry.

Good and quick turn around by SIG.
