Thought all they did was lever actions?

I have seen one in person. It is a really slick, well made rifle. If the price comes down a little, I will be buying one.

Price is nuts. Some youtube reviewers question its reliability. Maybe it is set up for stout ammo, because for one guy it choked a lot on 115gr.

They've been out for quite a while. I handled one several months ago. I liked it; felt very solid. If I didn't already have an old Camp 9, I'd be a potential buyer..

I already have a Glock pattern AR 9mm pistol so I will not be trying it.

You have a Camp Carbine in 9mm? There hasn't been anything come out since that beats it. I have one in .45.

Henry also released a revolver. I have a Kel Tec Sub 2000 in 9mm. Lots of people on the pistol caliber carbine band wagon. I think they have their uses. Mine doesn't get much except occasionally at the range.

Marlin's Camp 9 suffers from two flaws. First, the buffer requires monitoring and sooner or later will need replacing. Second, the hardwood stock is prone to cracking (this problem being related to the aforementioned buffer deteriorating). Some may be underwhelmed by the lever action type open sights, but if you were to affix a modern rail atop the receiver, all sorts of alternatives are then open to you. These issues aside, it's a neat gun that doesn't seem to be plentiful in the used marketplace. Mine has a fresh buffer (readily available) and I've fitted it with a folding Choate synthetic stock (a completely reversible modification). I've attached a pic below.

You're likely aware that the Camp 9 accepts S&W Model 59 type magazines. The Homesteader has an interchangeable magazine well so that besides Henry's proprietary magazines, you can opt to utilize Glock, SIG Sauer, or S&W M&P ones. The Homesteader's traditional walnut and blued steel construction appeals to me a lot. Most dealers want $900 or so for one (which is near the MSRP). However, I have seen some offered on sale at around $700, and I suppose at that price if I were to happen to catch one in stock, I'd probably be taking it home.

Henry generally does put really good wood on their rifles. While it ranges from pretty to gorgeous, I'd rather have a lower price and more pedestrian wood. Maybe even some synthetic.

Yeah, but one of the unstated appeals of the Henry is that it looks like your great-grandads gun, not like one of those evil black rifles. More to the point, it doesn't look like one to a jury. None of whom will be gun owners if the prosecutor and/or plantiff's attorney is earning their money.

There have been studies done and by and large the Mini-14 and it's wood stock are MUCH more juror friendly than any EBR.

To me that’s kind of like the “don’t carry reloads for self defense” or “don’t carry a gun with a trigger job”, etc. it’s not something I’m going to worry about even though some gunwriter repeats it in his books.

I think Henry definitely has a market with those preferring the looks of walnut, it’s just not something I want on a fun gun or something I may toss behind the seat of my truck.

The traditional appearing wood stock is definitely one of the things that I liked about the Henry. In years past, I've been tempted to put a synthetic stock on my old Camp 9. But in my dotage, I think the non-EBR wood stock is just fine.

I looked long and hard at the Henry-really liked it. Decision was between it and the Ruger. Posted this on the forum and was bombarded with "Why don't you look at the Smith FPC" questions. So I did and that delayed purchase for a while as I dithered, checked out each and made a VERY close decision to go with the Ruger over the Smith. The Henry lost out right out due to the folding of the Smith and the Take down of the Ruger. What sealed it for the Ruger was the fact that it just felt better mounted on the shoulder together with the fact that it came with a set of good open sights AND I was able to get it with the Backpacker stock from Magpul.

I really like the looks of this rifle and think it would make a great plinker, but after seeing the many problems people are reporting Henry is going to have to put some fixes before I'd plunk down any money.

Not a bad price considering what Marlin Camp Carbines are going for. If offered in 45 ACP compatible with Glock mags I would be a buyer.

Sorry, got my FPC and couldn't be happier. Switched out the handguard for a Nordic and my buffer plug and slapped on an Odin works comp. I am sure that sooner or later someone will come up with another stock for the Henry but, just isn't my cup of tea. Seems very limited with what you can do. The semi-AR platform of the FPC and the more AR platform of the Response make them more desirable IMO.

Might make a good JR shooting learning gun.

Unfortunately, it seems most manufacturers are not taking those of us that prefer 40 seriously. This is made evident by the fact that there are really only 4 company's that currently make a 40(glock, smith, cmmg, beretta). Aside from the glocks and Smith's, I never see 40s in the lgs anymore. Sadly cost and availability(9mm) have prevailed over better ballistic performance(40).

These rifle-length PCC's turn 9mm into .357. Most folks don't sneeze at .357 out of a revolver. Here's a recent vid. Easy-to-see when you pause on his chart.

The longarms are easier to shoot, hit with at distance, hold more rounds, and usually cheaper. I A-B'd the Homey with my Marlin 1894 today. THe Henry had slightly more felt recoil than 130gr FMJ .38 from the lever. OTOH, the Marlin had about double the felt recoil when using 158gr Hornady JHP .357.
