If you've followed my posts over my length here, you may have noticed that I have a fondness for older Remington bolt action .22's.
I finally picked up something this morning that I have wanted ever since I could remember my uncle having...
Now, this isn't one of the more scarce
Routledge bore (spelling?) models...which I passed up earlier this year, but one of the standard smooth bore 510's.
Even in standard smooth bore, these little rifles aren't seen every day. These rifles aren't "rare" in the sense gunshops label them as such to make an extra buck...just not common. I just finally found someone that saw the same value in it that I do.
I'm going to go to the range this weekend (tomorrow hopefully) and see if I can pattern this thing with some Winchester, CCI, Federal and some 1960's vintage Remington crimped shot.
The garden rabbits are going to have one hopping time this year!
Now, who was it that had the pictures of the high-grade special-order Winchester 61 smooth bore on here?!? I'd settle for a Remington pump in smoothbore.
I know...don't tell me...
This thread is worthless without pictures!
They'll be coming tomorrow.
BTW, does the overused term "rare" irk anyone besides me? The term rare should only be used with things that are such...like wheel lock firearms and suits of armor worn by Conquistadors. I've just dropped the use of the trite term completely.
