Years ago, as a joke, my teenage daughter told a “Santa” that she wanted a Red Ryder BB gun.
No doubt because of my fondness for the movie.
Being I never had one as a kid, I took it as an opportunity to acquire one.
I gave it to her for Christmas and we all had a small laugh.
When we inspected it, I found that the lever is made of plastic and though supposedly strong enough for the task, I just didn’t care for it, (the lever).
The little Daisy has been in my safe for all these years, unfired, unloved.
I just found out that Daisy offers a metal lever for $4 as opposed to a plastic $2 lever.
A necessary upgrade in my opinion.
Once I get it, it won’t be unfired for long.

I had a Red Ryder when I was a kid. When my son was 10 I got him a Red Ryder. After he moved out, I kept the red Ryder in the vault, and when he married and his son turned 10 I was shipping out Christmas present for their family and included the Red Ryder as a surprise. They still have it. It was a mid 1970's model and still had a metal lever.

Get that metal lever OP and post some targets. :D

Daisy made a levergun with gold colored metal and white plastic butt and forearm. I think it was the Annie Oakley model.
Rarely see them and my Dad gave mine to a younger cousin while I was in the Air Force.
Kept the critters out of the garden in NYC.

Never had time to add a butt stock to this pistol for the kids, but will get one made for the Grandkids.
The oldest is six and just started Muay Thai, as I learned this morning.
We often teach new shooters with BB/Pellet guns and it's pitiful that instructors in the punching, blocking and kicking arts, often do not teach kids/adults to fall without injury.
Looking forward to meeting the Chief Instructor.

Taught many kids and their parents to shoot with the Ben Sheridan and use light draw traditional bows.

Pretty feeble advertised at 350 FPS so probably around 300.

Thanks! Wonder what my Model 25 is. Was a decent starling dropper up close. Got to give it a couple squirts of oil and grab some BBs. Think my old Sheridan 5MM was close to 800 or more.

The apartment complex I sold almost 20 years ago, had a terrible squirrel problem!

I bought a Crossman pump up bb pistol. I'd sit in an empty second story apartment with the window open. When the squirrels would run along the phone lines outside the window, I gave them one attempt. Never hit one, but sure had fun trying!

I believe 8 pumps was the most accuracy velocity with BB's or pellets.

I had a toolbox with a fitted area in the bottom, so I just looked like any ole maintenance man going about his business!

I think Pyramidair shows the new production 25 also at 350 fps.

Not a Red Ryder but I won this this Daisy today at a local gun shop that had a “wheel spin” and “pick a numbered ornament” on a Christmas tree. It’ll go to my older son and his 3 little kids. I won’t open it until I give it to them. If the lever on it is plastic I’ll also order a metal one if available lol.
