Default Glock 43 recoil spring.

I will most likely replace the guide rod/recoil spring in my new-to-me Glock 43 with a metal guide rod. What is the factor recoil spring weight? Should I go with a heavier recoil spring? How heavy? What is the benefit of a heavier spring?

I don't have a Glock 43. I own a Glock 42 (.380) and replaced the factory spring with an all metal recoil spring assembly from RYG (Rock your Glock) that was supposed to be the same weight spring as factory. I had nothing but problems with it. I went back to the Glock OEM with polymer guide rod and it's been malfunction free since. Funny, I used a similar RYG stainless spring assembly in a Glock 19 Gen 4 and it's been flawless.

If there's one caliber handgun that Glock has figured out it's the 9mm. Their website says the 43 goes through the same torture testing as their larger double stack models. I have a 43 and I plan to use it like it came from the factory. I suggest you do likewise.

Yup. I only have one Glock that does not have the factory spring, and it is one with a RDS. The additional weight made for some unpleasant changes in ejection (like to my face, and I am ugly enough that I don't need help).

I’m no engineer, flunked math in school, so as long as my gun is working I leave everything factory spec.

My G43X is 100% reliable with all factory original parts. I wouldn't think of changing anything.

This ^^^^. Don’t overthink a Glock, I’ve been shooting them regularly since the late-1990s and IMO stock is always better.

Why are you considering replacing the guide rod? I have a first year production 43 that I ccw that’s seen a lot of ammo and still have the stock RSA.
