Here's a weird one, a pistol badged Mauser designed by Sig. Seems that Sig owned the rights on the Mauser name and had a pistol design they wanted to try. It is a compact, striker-fired, metal pistol in 45 ACP with a safety on the rear of the slide. It uses a rotating barrel action similar to that used on the Beretta 8045. I bought this as a collector piece and just wanted to check for function.

I say "compact" with my tongue firmly in my cheek. This pistol is pretty chubby, nobody was driving the design towards being 1" thick. The thick design results in a wide backstrap, which is probably why the felt recoil was about the same as the 9 mm pistols when using 230 gr. Yes, really.

The trigger is best described as odd, being heavyish with a "sliding through" sensation. This combined with a shortish sight radius meant that I found it hard to get consistent groups. Being pressed for time (4th gun of the day) I only shot a couple of mags worth (8 rounds each), Blazer Brass and Armscor. Maybe some of my accuracy issues were down to rushing and not concentrating. I feel I'd have to work with this gun quite a bit to get good with it. I do appreciate its remarkably low felt recoil for a 45. Below is my best group at 7 yards.

I own one of these in 40 S&W caliber. I bought it new when they came out.

I was excited at the time because the M2 was also supposed to be made in 357 Sig. Meaning all I needed was the barrel to interchange with the 40. But since the M2 didn't sell well, the 357 Sig was never released. I also like the rotating barrel idea too.

It's an interesting pistol and an excellent shooter.
