357 combo
Don’t you just hate it when you walk in to shop and they have something you really like lol. I was going to buy a 37-2 dao but it wasn’t as nice face to face as the photos showed. I looked around and saw this nib Henry .357 on display. The shop made me a very nice deal and after 3 days in Colorado gun jail (don’t get me started) it’s home. Hope to shoot it next weekend, the action is super smooth.

It was a limited run from the factory, there’s another thread that has more info in the 1980-present section.

Sorry no pictures, but my favorite .357 Mag carbine was a factory hard chromed IMI Timberwolf...My favorite .357 revolver would have to be one of my 5-screw 3 1/2" Smiths...The Henry/686 combo is also very appealing, although I would have chosen a blued 586 for my personal tastes... ...Ben

A lot of available options, but...
One possible combo from my safe, an Interarms Rossi 92 SRC .357 mag, along with a 5" M27-2, resting on the LEO holster it came with.

357 handgun, could be my 28-2, 686 no dash, or SAA clones. For a long gun, could be my pre bolt safety Rossi 92 Stainless SRC or the Savage 24 357/20 gauge.

I have a pre-safety bolt Marlin 1894C, for Old West my O.M. Ruger Blackhawk, for modern day my S&WM-19 or M-28.

I have a .357 Rossi M92 20" barrel that is my favorite rifle. Shoot mostly Remington plus P .38 125 grain hp's in it and my 4" revolvers, M28, M19, and stainless Ruger Security Six.

Similar thing happened to me recently. I have a .44 rifle, but had been considering a .357 carbine of some kind for years. Recently walked into a shop, saw a short barreled Henry in the rack. Well now I have a .357 carbine..

Around 1982 I bought my first JM Marlin 1894C 357 carbine. $156 OTD from a FFL at our church. I my load development took me to the now discontinued Hornady 180 grain Jacketed Soft Hollow point. WW Brass, CCI SP Mag. primers, and H4227 powder. Back then you couldn't hunt deer in Ohio with any mantellic cartridge so I zeroed for 50 yards and shot small groups that could be covered with a nickel. I also had/have a 28-2 that was Mag-Na-Ported. That gun shot those loads like a laser beam! And almost zero recoil. I don't have the load written down anywhere, I my old loading manuals got lost in the move 10 years ago. But the H4227 load was far superior to the H110 loads!
