Triple lock with stag knives
Which of the three knives is the best pairing?

I disagree. I can see somebody, in the time frame that that pistol comes from, carrying that trapper. The third knife - the single blade - I just think if somebody was going to carry that, back then, they would actually be wearing a fixed blade. The folding hunting/fighting knife does not fit in that time frame. To my mind. And the stock knife would be okay if you knew for a fact that the pistol owner was a cowboy. But that trapper - that that's just a good all-around knife.

The lightning in number 1 makes it look like a good match. The gun stocks in the other two pics looks darker. I also like number 3 but I see the points made for the others.

I like the first picture the best, but the second knife just looks more classic to me.

The revolver does just fine by itself. Not to say there is anything wrong with any of the knives.

Thanks for sharing. Definitely the one with the brandy snifter tipped the
“scales”.

Thank you all for the great comments and participation. Knife #1 the (Tony Bose) wharncliff trapper does have the best scales and is the epitome of a working knife. The scales are also probably the closest in color to the stocks. #2 the (Luke Swenson) lock back whittler is another close match in the stock color. I agree that it is definitely another worker and has a cowboy flair. You do not want to indulge too much in the sniffer while using, it has bitten me. #3 the (Don Hanson) fat penny single blade, has a much whiter stag. #3's steel is W2 and has a nice patina to it, as the others are stainless. I definitely need to get some period knives to compliment my older guns.

All 3 knife craftsmen do wonderful work. To me, there is NOTHING better than a knife with Sambar Stag handles! They are definitely my favorite, and you just don’t see handles like that everyday, and when you do find gems like that, you better be prepared to pay for them!
