I dyed this afternoon
I have had a grey, mil-spec Palmetto State Armory AR stock set for a few years. The grey and FDE stock sets have always concerned me, during deer season, as deer can be similar colors. I asked my GOOGLE HOME machine if grey could be turned green, and was told yellow would do the trick.
I bought yellow RIT dye, added 1/2 the bottle to a gallon of boiling water and dropped all the parts in for 15 minutes each, stirring the water and flipping the parts over several times. I rinsed the parts off in ice cold water and let them dry.
I believe the results were worth a $3.00 bottle of RIT and an hour of my time.
The rifle is a PSA with a factory ODG furniture set, for comparison.

Judging by the pics, they seem to have come out looking sort of olive green, which would actually look good on an AR, if you ask me.

Biologist state deer are color blind.........So does you gun color matter when you're out there dressed like an orange road pilon?

Yes, because other hunters can be dangerous. About 12-15 years ago a Georgia deer hunter (wearing DFO) was shot out of a tree stand. One never knows who is on their property.

So you wear orange. Gun color doesn't matter..........Deer are color blind. They see in shades of white and gray......Ask any biologist.

I do my part, for sure. Georgia has had the DFO clothing requirement since I was a child.

Yes but, they do pick up on high contrasting objects. Nice, job on the dye job.
