1911 grips, ivory?
Got these on a Colt GCNM, opinions on what they are made from would be appreciated.

Tried the hit needle, no penetration, definitely could smell
Something, but not sure what

Usually the ivory-like or ivory dust stocks look very uniform in color, so my guess on these is real.

Wish I could see the end grain better, but otherwise looks right.
You can actually differentiate the specific types. What was “raw” elephant, walrus or whale teeth compared to fossilized mastodon, whale and walrus. Even the fossilized can be white farther in. They all have a specific unique, (signature,) pattern in the end grain.
My wife is still in the “Who’s who of the top 100 scrimshaw artists” even though she/we have moved on out of AK. I still have examples to compare except for the white elephant of course. I can again post pictures if anyone is interested. (I’ve responded to this question before.)

Maybe Giraffe bone or Camel bone ?
Both seem to be popular stand-ins for ivory lately and have that 'almost looks like Ivory appearance.

End grain does not look like my ivories. Looks most likely Giraffe bone or other type bone.
