Class AAA engraved Colt Python 4.25" Regal Snake
I like the new Pythons a lot. So I decided to pull the trigger on this 4.25" on the Altamont website. Just picked it up and I'm very pleased with the work.
Amazing detail and craftmanship, and even better than the photos.
I may shoot it..but not really necessary. Some things are just fine to admire!

Got me one too, but a 3” wearing Altamont’s prototype, replica OEM grips. I had dinner the other night with Pat Enright, co-owner of Altamont, who told they are going to start producing these grips.

That is a nice style of scroll and a beautiful execution. It is pleasing to see a break from the usual style of acanthus engraving. Do you know who is the engraver?
Thanks for sharing Breakaway500 !

Merlin Enwright is the engraver on my Regal Snake. I really like the boldness of his style. I do like the lighter/finer engraving as well, but for this modern Python I think this deeper style is a knockout!

Yes, Merlin does the engraving. Mine was Patrick’s personal gun. I just happened to say the right words:
Me: I want it!
Patrick: Where do I send it?

Those are Laser cut/machine 'engraved'.
It looks like maybe some small shading or background stippling may be added by hand engraving in some areas.
But I wouldn't be surprised if the 'machines' do all of the work seen now.
They are getting that good.
The designs are done by Mr Enwright.

I keep looking at the various engraved Pythons that have come out over the last several months. Yours is intriguing but not quite my style, close. I do like the fact they engraved over that stupid QR code on the right side. Most don’t do that. I can’t help but wonder what it would look like in polished blue.

I think of these as products by a modern era artist using the current tools of the trade to make something “magnificent looking” that someone would want to purchase.
What I see pleases me enough to buy one, and the knowledge that the underlying revolver has proven (to me)to be a top shelf handgun.
I will be a happy shooter at the range with this, I am sure. I like how they moved the Python 357 off the barrel to the underlug, rather her than make an “island” out of it. The full snake design down both sides of the barrel are done very nicely, with great detail. It does give it a clean look with all the logos off it. Affordable as well. Welcome to the machine!
(At least I didn’t have it personalized . )

You’re correct
I told Pat that I like that they removed the QR code, but should have left the pony. He agreed.
