Interesting find when moving some of my ammo stash.
One of the cases of HXP .30-06 on Garand enblocs still had the shipping paperwork in the envelope on the side. Ah, the good old days.

Those were, indeed, the good old days. I've still got a couple cans of that HXP left - decent stuff. Hope you've got a dolly to move your stash ;-).

Between the shoulder blades is talking to me now. Just shows how much I need to get back into working out.

I have a bunch of those cans and a receipt somewhere in my paperwork. Wish I had bought more BITD.

Very cool! I'm a big fan of the MI rifle but mostly shoot Prvi Partizan .30-06 (150 gr FMJ for M1 Garand). Interesting that in movies and on TV shows we always see the WWII and Korean War riflemen just wearing their M1910/M1923 cartridge belts (10 pouches). But that was only a combat load of 80 rounds! I'm sure that back in the day those guys were grabbing extra bandoliers of .30-06, like those in your ammo cans, whenever possible.

kinda sad that the "Good Old Days" were 2008... just not that long ago...
Too many "issues" between then and now to make ammo prices get so high... price has more than tripled in just 16 years...

I was in Toledo, Ohio about 2007. I was driving my employers Mercury Grand Marquis. He had a deal with a Mercury dealer and could get the Mercurys cheaper than the Crown Victorias. I had a coworker with me. I took him to Camp Perry and purchased some of the Greek 30-06. I think I bought 4 or 5 cases. he was amazed that I could buy ammo from the government. I would have bought more, but I was not sure how much the car would carry. I did not want to damage it. If I knew then what I know now, I would have driven up in my truck and bought a lot more.

Never tried any of the XHP but still have some 400rd cans of the Lake City the CMP sold. Used to try and order a can every few months back in the day. IIRC it was $200 a can but don’t recall if that included shipping or not.
