Bought a set here in the classified, spalted maple. Waited 3 days for someone to buy them so I wouldn’t. Then I bought a gun for them. Holster by Bamabiker. Larry

I like smooth grips These are Culina Curly Myrtle wood which has chatoyancy. "The term 'chatoyancy', deriving from the French for 'shining like a cat's eye', denotes the effect that occurs when a bright light is shone onto a rounded, reflective surface and causes light to be reflected back in narrow line perpendicular to the observer's line of sight "

I tried to capture this with a series of photos taken straight on and at angles. I hope you like them.

All pics very nice. Not to hijack a thread here, but I have 3 Model 1911's that I want to put grips on, and I am still looking for a good maker. American holly, buffalo horn/bone, elk or maybe wood. Have some suggestions? I would very much appreciate a PM. Thanks

Esmerelda scrimshawed these for my 10MM Auto long slide that I built about a decade ago. It is named THOR

Since it is getting harder to find Ivory, I purchased these Wolly Mammoth grips for my current project

I inset these USMC emblems in these grips over 30 years ago. To a set of Ranger Grips and dremeled out the emblem that was there. I got the Eagle. Globe & Anchors off some USMC Sharpshooters badges. I used a two part epoxy to hold them in place. May not be super pretty as some grips shown here, but mean a lot to me. Yes, I had them on a couple of my active duty M1911A1's. This pistol is an original Series 700 Gold Cup National Match.

My go to for 1911 grips was Ahrends, until they unfortunately closed in early 2020. I have many sets of rosewood and a couple of ebony. The last of my spare sets of Ahrends went on a blued .38 Super in 2021. My new source for 1911 grips is Wood Caliber. I’ve got a nice set of rosewood on my Gunsite Pistol, and ebony on my stainless Competition .38 Super. Several of my 1911’s also have NOS 70 Series Colt grips from Nutmeg Sports.

Like you Barber Dime. Here is mine, it belonged to my Grandfather. He carried it in his wallet as it was the year he was born.

I do like the look of Ivory although I have mixed feelings about killing an elephant for his teeth. Mammoth Ivory on the other hand can also be very nice and I like the creamier solid Mammoth over the mottled bark look. I also prefer solid over the stuff with cracks and stabilization. I just can't afford Ivory

Nothing fancy here. Found these in a gun shop in Pa. hanging on the wall. The packaging had KIMBER GRIPS on it. Only thing Kimber I own. The Colt frame started life in 1958 as a .38 Super.

You were right to buy the pistol after the grips. Those grips probably would not look right on the Mid Range!

I'm extremely pleased with the American Ivory grips I bought from Boone Trading: 1911 Pistol Grips They have a lesser item called Simulated Ivory, but to my eyes, the American Ivory looks closer to real elephant ivory.

Here are a couple pics of the American Ivory grips on a Gold Cup:

I had this 1911 for app.55 years & never shot it,I`m sure
some one could find a better set of grips to shoot it. Dick
The few sets of pewter grips that I have handled did not feel like they would be comfortable to shoot. Just a set of nice wood grips would be my choice. No checkering would be better to me.

I really like these! How often do they have them in stock and do they go quickly when they do?

They are essentially made to order. I contacted the owner and he said he'd call me when he had a pair available. He did and posted them on the website for me to consider. He advised me to decide quickly because once they were posted, they'd go pretty quickly.

Great guy to work with. I think you'll be pleased.

I work with a lot of exotic wood. Black and White Ebony is my favorite.

Those look similar to what once was TruIvory aka BarSgrips. Stunning pair you have.

Lot of nice grips being shown, seems we have a taste for barbecue guns. Lot of ideas here for grips, Larry
