Shot 20 rds then my last of the box I Load 5,
Bang ! “Hit” , Bang! “Hit”, Bang! “Hit”. Then BRRR! I was amazed on how fast it ran.
What ?? How? WOW!
Glad I loaded 5. Nobody got hurt. Rifle didn’t leave the front rest or rear sand bag.
Need to figure out my next step.
I am not the original owner. Manufacturer has a limited warranty.

That's scary!

A friend of mine bought a .22 Winchester 190 or 290 50 some years ago. He didn't like the trigger pull, so tried to lighten it. Went full auto on him.

He went back to the so-so trigger pull.

You didn't say what kind of rifle it is. M1A? AR10? I have only had this happen with 7.62x39 in a Chinese SKS rifle. The SKS has a free floating firing pin and can be susceptible to "slam fire" if the firing pin channel in the bolt is fouled or deformed. In my case, the issue was handloaded ammo with softer primers. I switched to Russian or Chinese steel case and it has never happened again.

I'm reliably informed that this event is very exciting when the rifle is an Egyptian FN-49 with a broken firing pin and full house 8x57 ammo. Good thing the mag only takes 10.

It’s a Springfield M1a.
Sorry it took me so long to respond.

Never had an M1A go full joyswitch on me. I did have an Erma .22 Luger that dumped a full mag once....or twice.

I had an Erma .22 slam fire the first round only when I loaded the topped-up mag. That was plenty scary enough for me!

I had a Colt .32 (that I had fired several times previously without problem) that turned into a machine pistol once due to a burr on the firing pin. It was "interesting" but not particularly dangerous. Also easy to fix.

My scout squad did the same thing. When I took it apart, a small piece of metal fell out of the trigger assembly. shipped it off Springfield Arm.and they fixed it.
I remember seeing a You Tube video where a guy had the same problem

Had a M1911A1 pistol that would go auto once in a while. Was using a Federal Ordnance M1911A1 frame (this is 30+ years ago). Finally figured out the disconnector was setting a touch low (the pin hole was off a bit). Tried about a dozen different disconnectors to fix the problem and no joy. I police officer that we knew heard and saw us working on it. He came over to watch and talk to us. Then he decided he wanted it as it sat. Sold it to him and never looked back as he knew what he was buying. But let me tell you a M1911A1 in .45 ACP in auto is a handful especially when you are not ready for it.
