Default Tisas Recall

I have been thinking about one of these as a fishing companion in gator waters.

Anybody have any info on the recall of many models?

I don't own one but here is what is posted online. Apparently "hammer follow" is the potential issue.

holding the hammer back with the thumb when dropping the slide prevents wear on the sear. an old trick from bullseye matchs back in the day.

A tiny bending of the main spring's sear finger can also prevent sear bounce. The end result is just a tiny increase in trigger pull weight. I would not recommend a DIY fix to a new firearm, especially when the manufacturer has issued a recall, but for those with 1911's out of warranty or those of us who did the DIY build thing, it's an easy thing to do. I'm still not a fan of really light pulls on 1911's, I prefer 4.5 pounds and a very crisp, glass smooth pull on my target grade 1911's and around 5.5-6.0 pounds for one that is intended for serious purposes.

I have to say, something about dealing with a gator, boats, and water kinda screams revolver.

My only gator encounter was with about 100 of it's babies... I pedaled off like a crazy man before momma could show, but I heard her coming!

As mentioned in the link, there is a specific serial number range impacted by the recall. The guns coming out after that serial number range are supposed to have further quality checks to make sure there isn't an issue.

I'd be curious to know the depth of the sear cut in the hammer, and the angle of the sear engagement surface.
