Default Store Display - has anyone seen these?

I recently bought this display. I can find very little information about it. Google revealed one that sold at auction in 2022 but it contained very little information about it.

The "made in USA by American craftsman" helps to date it, but not much.

Does anybody remember seeing these during their life? The key ring and pen knife are golden in color as the name suggests.

These are inexpensive, impulse countertop items but the display is in new, unused condition.

I bought this as a curiosity at an auction for very little. Now I'm curious about what I have.

Any help is appreciated.

Sharp Brand was sold by K-Mart. I've had a few over the years, but they were marked "Japan".

Thanks, I did. I know there's a lot of knowledge here as well. I'll share their findings when I have them.

Looks familiar. My gut says mid 60's. That's all I got.

The consensus seems to be that Colonial made them for K-Mart. Not sure about the time frame. K-Mart didn't come into business until 1962. The Sharp USA trademark was used beginning in the late 1970's. This seems to be earlier than that, so maybe early to mid 1970's.

the only useful part shall be when that style of keychain was first made. I have seen goldy/goldie labelled double edge razor blades listed as being 1950s production.

The company is/was Kresge, one of the original 5 and 10 cent stores similar to Ben Franklin, Woolworth, etc. The S.S. Kresge Company dates back to 1897! The name was changed to KMart Corp. in 1977. Where did the 1962 date come from???

Wikipedia:
Kmart, formerly legally registered as Kmart Corporation, now operated by Transformco, is an online retailer in the United States and operates six remaining Kmart big-box department stores — 3 in the US Virgin Islands[5][6][7] and one each in Kendale Lakes, Florida (Miami postal address);[4] Bridgehampton, Long Island;[8] and Tamuning, Guam.[9]

Prior to 2018, Kmart owned and operated a much larger chain of Kmart stores. The company is headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, United States. The company was incorporated in 1899 as S. S. Kresge Corporation and renamed Kmart Corporation in 1977.[10] The first store with the Kmart name opened in 1962 in Garden City, Michigan.[11] At its peak in 1994, Kmart operated 2,486 stores globally, including 2,323 discount stores and Super Kmart Center locations in the United States.[12][13][14][15] From 2005 through 2019, Kmart was a subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corporation.[16] Since 2019, Kmart has been a subsidiary of Transform SR Brands LLC, a privately held company that was formed in 2019 to acquire assets from Sears Holdings.
