Well. I brought home a python.
Found it at my local store last weekend. Went back today with cash and it was still there. Haven’t shot it yet. Maybe I’m crazy but I’m gonna. It really is beautiful. I just had to get it. It feels great in my hand. I’d never handled one before. Not even the old ones. Admired from a distance. I’ll get better pictures in a day or so as time allows.

Nice looking revolver
I love Pythons. I have been collecting and shooting them since 1990
My two favorites are this Snake Eyes set that I acquired about 25 years ago
One of the 2 1/2" revolvers is Royal Blue and the other is Ultimate Stainless
Colt is starting production of Blue steel Pythons this year. I can't wait

I need to take an inventory...I'm up to thirteen or fourteen Pythons. I need to get them together for a family photo.

That looks great with the stags! One of my local shops has a few. The interesting thing is that while the stainless 4” has 2 vents on the rib, the blue 4” has 3. I think it looks weird lol. The blue feels smoother than the stainless. All are at full msrp. They also have a beautiful 1972 4” blue for $2800, unfortunately wearing Pach grips. It has an absolutely amazing action.

Beautiful snake eyes. I had to blow up the picture to double check, but can you confirm they hang directly on steel hooks? I’m not sure my OCD would allow for that.

Thank you for the kind words
Yes, the hooks are standard steel pegboard hooks.
However, the hooks are sleeved in clear aquarium style tubing so it is nonmarring to the firearm

I firmly believe Pythons are the sexiest, best looking revolver ever...still love my Smiths, but the Pythons are on another level, especially the old deep blue 4" ones...

I like them both. Shot the python yesterday. Always brings a smile to my face. Puts them right where it's pointed.

OP ….. I would have had a hard time walking away from that one. Beautiful engraving and awesome grips. Any idea on the grip maker ?
I would shoot it too.

I have 3 new Pythons at the moment and considering a new blue one. I they ever introduce the blue in 5” that’s the one I’d get. I had a late 70’s blue 6” but sold it when the prices got close to $2k and really don’t regret it. I’m so pleased with the new ones I bought 7 new Colt revolvers and a couple of older ones.
Love those stags. I put a set on my 3” too.

I think a 5” barreled Python is the best looking, most balanced appearing Python made. I’ve seen several Colt Custom Shop 5” Pythons in black DLC…Diamond Like Coating…and they were spectacular looking.
If Colt produces the 5” Python in blue there’s no question I’ll get one.

Wildly accurate … at least my example is. Just buttery smooth double action followed by a hole precisely where you were looking.
And it doesn’t hurt that it looks like it does.

They are nice, aren't they? I'm a Smith and Wesson guy, but I have a minor in Colt. We've got two of the "new" Pythons, both with the 4.2" barrels. About as close to clones as you're going to find I suppose. I have to check the S/N's to know which one is which. We've got two so similar because after I got the first one, my wife reminded me that she didn't have one. Now she does.

I love my Smiths, but there’s definitely something special about Colts, especially the Python. I am waiting for them to bring out the new, blue 2.5”.

I have a vintage nickeled 6" Python that I acquired years ago when a gun shop owner was retiring. No box, no papers, not even the original grips. I got it because it was the class of the revolver world. There is a gun shop a little west of Gettysburg that has a 6" new Python. I asked the person in charge if the shop would consider a trade of the new Python and cash for my vintage one. He said he'd have to look at my gun first. That's OK, at least he didn't reject the concept out of hand. I'll have to clean mine up and take it over.

To be honest…the new Python is overall a better gun…but there’s something about the older Python that is so beautiful. I have a 1960s era 4” Python that’s nickel plated and it is a joy to behold. Both Colt and S&W were capable of incredible finishes…both nickel and blue.
While current manufacturing techniques make for more practical finishes they often can’t match the aesthetics of past production…though to match the finishes of the past would price them out of the market due to handwork involved.

Tyler gun works did all the engraving and built the grips. It’s a nice shooter. Really accurate. It’s a dandy for sure.
