How bout those other Wesson's
Hello all, anybody shooting the Dan Wesson 1911's. Each has been good to me with about a thousand rounds through them. The Vigil is a 9 mm 5"gov, and is probably the most fun at the range you could have. They have all been great from the box.

DW has ruined me!
As of yesterday I have 400 rounds through my 2024 Guardian .38 Super. I have followed DW's break in instructions to the letter. Three range sessions, running very wet. I have other 1911s, I have many good revolvers, pistols, rifles and shotguns. I have never been so pleased with a firearm! Suddenly few of them have the accuracy or trigger refinement that is now expected by me. A Colt, a BHP and a USGI Colt are heading for the block to finance another DW. Oh, my, I'm ruined.

The guardian is on my short list as well. The A2 blued is also, but it’s a discontinued model. Gotta wait for it to show up some day. Nice stuff no complaints.

I have been shooting the other "Wessons" for decades. Going all the way Back to Metallic Silhouette shooting
The Dan Wessons of that era were highly sought after for their LEGENDARY long range accuracy

When a friend who ran an archery/fishing shop for the owner brought me in to open a firearms department for him in '18, I was given complete control over purchasing decisions. The owner asked me if I had plans to feature a premium line of 1911s. He assumed I'd go with Kimber, but I had something else in mind. It took some doing, but I eventually managed to land Dan Wesson. It wasn't easy, mostly because they were already having trouble filling orders for existing accounts. Apparently I was sufficiently persuasive, though, because by the time we had our grand opening, I had gotten us set up as the only factory-direct DW dealer in the state of Wisconsin. We did very well with them, selling guns locally and nation-wide, though we struggled to get inventory through the whole Covid problem. When I retired in late '22, my wife thought it was a travesty that I didn't own one, so she bought me this 9mm Specialist.

I like how they don’t turn the slides into giant billboards like a lot of others do. Nice and clean.

Huge DW 1911 fan!
To my mind they’re the best 1911 for the $$$ on the market. Own a few. All forged parts, no MIM.

Years ago I played around with a Dan Wesson .445 Super Mag. You could read the many reamer marks on the fired brass, and that was with the light loads. It was the single worst revolver I ever shot and fortunately I didn't own it.

Dan Wesson revolver quality ranged from outstanding to horrible and it was generally linked to manufacturing dates. By 1990, the tooling was worn, the quality control was poor, and Dan Wesson Firearms filed for bankruptcy. In 1991 moved to Palmer, Massachusetts as Wesson Firearms, but with the old tooling and still spotty quality control. In 1995, Wesson Firearms filed for bankruptcy.
Bob Serva bought Wesson Firearms in 1996 and moved production to Norwich, New York. Quality was improved under Bob Serva's control, but revolver production was limited as he started producing the more popular 1911 clones.
Unfortunately, financial hardships remained and Wesson Firearms was sold again, this time to CZ-USA. Revolver production did not last long under CZ-USA's control.
So far, I have owned only 2 Dan Wesson firearms, both being Model 15-2 revolvers, blue finish. The first one I foolishly traded, the second one will not be leaving me. Both were beautifully finished and very accurate.

Yes DW revolvers did have some QC issues like most firearm companies that could be dealt with so don't be so fast to throw what sounded like a blanket worse revolver ever remark with out knowing the history better .
Remember the Robert Serva years of DW 1911 also had plenty of qc issues and if you owned one of those would the DW 1911 be the Worst ever too ? Hum
Guess there not the worse ever really after all DW revolvers have served many large game hunters well and on the long range silhouette matches very well still today .
Heck my ole standard load for my 15-2 8" was a 170gr sp at 1400fps with a 2moa ultra dot mounted in a Beuhler scope mount will still place 6 shoots of 6 inside a 4" group at 100 yards fired from a bench reset .

I had a Dan Wesson Valor for a couple of years back in the mid aughts. It was a nice 1911 and I wish I still had it, but oh well…
I’m much more into revolvers anyway, so a few weeks ago I picked up this outstanding 8” 741. I’ve only had it out for a spin once, but it was a dream to shoot. I contacted CZ and had them send me a D&T scope rail, so now I have to find a smith to mount it for me.
