Default PHOTOS Landed into a 1982 Colt Python blue 4”

Well I believe in Fate. A year or so ago I got a nice Colt Commando that had been reblued - dirt cheap for $250. It had some freckling but whoever did the bluing did a great job - came with the original plastic grips and came in a brown with red interior cardboard box marked for a Colt Python 4” blue. It even had the sight adjustment tool.

I said,”One day I’ll get me a 4” blue Python to go in that box.”A few times I thought about selling the box but kept hoping I’d stumble across one to fill it.

Well today it happened.

I was picking up some grips from my FFL when he tells me he just got in a 44 gun estate sale mostly shotguns and .22 rifles with a few revolvers. He pulls out a 99% condition Python. Previous owner maybe put 50 rounds through it and never let his family handle or shoot it. So my FFL said he could deal with the family and it get it for me out the door for $1600.

Thats a lot of money but after talking with the wife, getting a good tax return and always wanting a Python I decided to go for it. I’ve been hankering for a Python and this one will have a nice box to go in.
I don’t do safe queens so she will get shot!

It will be a few weeks before I pick it up so will post pictures then.

UPDATE
I picked it up yesterday and if it’s been fired then I doubt more than a few cylinders as the bluing is perfect and barely a turn line. It looks good in box and the serial number on the box is about 2000 off this one so close enough. Did a cleaning this afternoon and there was a bit of residue. Finally got a grail gun for me that is.

My son is in town so next stop is to take her to the range to try her out seeing as she’s already been fired. I plan to bring my 1968 Colt Cobra and 1943 Colt Commando and make it a Colt day at the range. Don’t tell my j and k frames.

Fabulous justification to buy the gun! I've bought guns because I had grips, a holster, some ammo or speedloaders that fit.

That was a really good price too.

Congrats, Grimjaws! That's a great price! Love the box story, too!
