I'm getting two APF-R1s. These are Alfa Proj made guns, specifically the Model 3530 (Stainless 3" Fixed Sight) and Model 3561 (Blued 6" Adjustable Sight). American Precision Firearms out of Miami, FL is importing them into the country (along with some other very nice things from Europe). Should have them in my grubby paws soon. When they come in, I'll post pictures of 'em and a review soon.

Here's an example of the 3" model from APF's website.

Alfa Proj in the past made a very cool .357 Magnum/.32 S&W Long target gun.

I've been interested in these Czech made guns for a while. So, I am excited to get my hands on them.

You have quite the affinity for gun-journalism, Sir! :D
So, I also look forward to your report.I am quite fond of the 3" 9mm I acquired.

However, I just now checked their page.....

They are smoking some serious herb down there in Miami with those MSRPs about TWICE as high as they should be.

Here’s some examples of the .32 S&W Target models that Alfa Proj built for ISSF and other competition. The main difference between these two is the overall weight (that’s why the barrel is vented on the one).

I don’t know of any imported into the USA.
They’ve been imported into other countries. In Australia, they list for $1400-1500 AUD.

There are many target shooters in the USA who would like to get ahold of one of these revolvers. Unfortunately, as with past attempts to import Alfa Proj into the US, none of the importers have any interest in the target models.
This is a dumb move in my opinion. The generic sport/defense revolver market is already saturated. A diversified offering would help better establish the Alfa Proj brand.

By the way, there is quite an interesting history of target revolvers made in Czechoslovakia. In the early 1950s, Josef and Frantisek Koucký designed the ZKR-551 revolver for high level UIT target shooting. At that time, International target shooting held a special regard in the rivalry between Western and Soviet Bloc nations. The ZKR-551 helped Czech shooters achieve some impressive wins.
If you don’t know the names of the Koucký brothers, you might be familiar with one of their later designs, the CZ 75 9mm pistol.

These turn up for sale on rare occasions.

They are somewhat expensive, in the $1500 range depending on model.
APF R-1 REVOLVER Archives - American Precision Firearms

Brno Alfa-Proj has made relatively inexpensive revolvers in the recent past. I was able to get a 6" trio in .22LR, .32 Long and .38 Special for about $350 each brand new in 2018.
Alfa revolver triplets - .22, .32, .38

More recently I have seen Rock Island branded Alfa revolvers. They are the ones with the AL model prefix.

Prices are about what you're paying across the pond once you remove import costs to the US (shipping, customs fees, etc).

APF is a good company to deal with. I’ve got a few of the Strike One Ergal pistols they brought in from Italy.

As well as a couple Arms Zeka from Czech

The thing is, those are the Holek guns you got in your thread

Much cheaper to make than the Steel line of guns. Hence the cheaper prices. As for RIA, they have basic finishes, less polishing, etc.... same parts quality. But kinda like how Colt has the more affordable bead-blast finished Python and thr polished Python.

So.....they are a nice looking Checz revolver. How do they compare to a $1500 new Python or older mint 686 or the like? Anything different about the design or manufacture? I like what I see but what am I getting for the money?

They're here!

USPS finally delivered the guns to the FFL.

These are the ones I handled down in Miami originally. I'm looking forward to getting some trigger time behind them. APF was nice to also send me a set of rubber stocks too.

I bought an ALFA 9mm imported thru distributor in Pahrump, Nevada at a Las Vegas show 2 years ago. I was represented as used after being sent to a gun writer.
Nice gun adjustable trigger but I sold it was not going to shoot it much/

Isn't this brand being imported by Rock Island now?

Some models are. But the .357 Magnums aren't except for the Alfa Proj snub-nose aren't. APF has the 3", 4", and 6" .357 Mags in both stainless and blued.

RIA had the 2" .357 Mag, 3" 9mm, and then the rest are .22 LR and .22 WMR.
