Palmetto State Armory AR-15 Pistol Range Report

Finally had a chance to get this guy out to the range today. It was an indoor range that my sister's a member at.
I brought 2 loaded 30 round mags and 2 loaded 20 round mags.
I sighted in the red dot with a laser bore sight at home and at the range, it was shooting about an inch low at 15 yards.
It went through all the ammo without a single hiccup, was loud and shot fire balls.
I enjoyed shooting it.
I may just havta start getting ammo in bulk once it gets warm enough to take it to my local outdoor range.

Sounds like a good time to me. AR pistols are always a hoot to shoot, especially at the indoor range.

Very nice looking AR pistol.
I've had nothing but good luck with PSA ARs and I hope you do as well.

I assume that you have a 5.56 AR pistol from your description of the fireballs! What is the barrel length? You have a nice looking AR pistol, and I'm glad to here that it's a dependable shooter. I'm looking to put together a PSA .300 AAC (Blackout) pistol right after Christmas...my son has a .300 AAC PSA upper (8" bbl.) for me, and I'm looking to buy a PSA complete lower (multi-caliber). Probably add a suppressor, too. Enjoy!
("smoothshooter What is the appeal of an AR-15 pistol?"). Well smoothshooter, the AR pistols are like a lot of other guns that people buy...they look cool. Actually, because they are much shorter than a standard AR rifle or carbine they make excellent home defense or "truck" guns. They have near rifle stopping power and are much easier to handle in confined spaces. Adding a suppressor allows indoor (home defense) shooting without blinding or deafening the shooter. If you add a folding stock adapter the pistol can easily be placed in almost any type of backpack.

And then there’s the “coolness factor”.

I recently built an 8" 9mm PCC with a side charger, added Holosun Red Dot with backup flip up Magpul sights. it takes Glock mags etc. It is a hoot to shoot. Everyone who shoots it wants one! I did it to have something compact with a bit more firepower for home, truck, traveling, camping etc. It's a great little setup.

Besides being cool looking and a hoot to shoot, it’s fun to watch the heads at the ATF explode as they unsuccessfully try to put the pistol brace genie back into the bottle.

That's actually a pretty good question.
Ever since I saw an AR pistol, I knew that I wanted one but I wanted to get one with the shortest barrel I could find.
One day, while wandering around at a gun show, I saw this guy. A few minutes later, I owned this stubby little fellow.
I got a red dot, sling and since I am disabled, an arm brace.
I've always liked short barreled guns and thought an AR pistol just looked cool. Now though, I can see the more practical side of it.
Some of the other fellows have already given some of the reasons.
Plus it's lotsa fun to shoot.

It is a 5.56 with a 5.5 inch barrel and 4 inch hand guard. That's just enough for both my right hand and a QD sling adapter.
It's kinda got me thinkin' of doing a build.

I gotta admit, that was one of the deciding factors.

An indoor range would be the last place I would ever shoot one.
The concussive noise level would be horrendous for the shooter and anyone else in the range, even with hearing protection.
But unto each his own.

Isn’t the velocity loss out of such a short barrel so much that the ballistics are close to .22 Hornet or less?

There is a medical component to these as well. The fireball would instantly cauterize any wounds....

It wasn't all that bad. Just a bit noisier than my .357Sig Glock 33.

A Flash Can will at least control the side blast you have now with the bird cage style muzzle devise . KAK has several syles & length flash hiders that I prefer . Cold Pistol .
