That 2.5" is sweet! And thankfully it doesn't have extra vents like the 4.25".

New revo's from Kimber, S&W, Redhawks at $1K plus, Colts always had a premium price. Just because msrp is 1699, wait, and prices should come down. I paid $1269 FOR MY 6" Anaconda (new 6mo's ago).

Sure would be nice if S&W could learn from what Colt's doing. Glad to see them FINALLY make some forward movement with the non-lock Mountain Guns but c'mon.

New and Improved
Thank you for the Update. I have seen
a few blued Pythons lately, well fitted and
finished.
But I am still going to hold off and wait
for the new 2025 Česká zbrojovka/Colt
Anaconda 4” 45Colt in stainless steel.
The Best to you and your Endeavors.

Davidsons Gun Genie is showing the blued 4.25" can be had for $1325-$1350 (pre tax and fees) through a couple of dealers in my area. I imagine those above will follow closely when they become available. So, it's not 'really' $1699.

Prices on the stainless have been dropping in my area so I’m going to wait for the 2.5” to drop. I have 3 of the new stainless so no rush.
EDIT: Thinking about this, do I really want another Python or would I rather put my money into vintage Colt revolvers.

At this point, a box stock Colt Python is beating anything that comes from S&W, including the "Performance Center".
I've been a Colt hater from way back but I bought a 3" SS Python and am thoroughly impressed.

Just walked in from shooting my new generation SS Python with 38’s and 357 reloads. Wilson gold bead front sight. Had my shooting buddy shoot it and he commented how nice the trigger is. I really like it. A smooth, slick, handsome and accurate pistol. Bought it as a “blem” from PSA a year ago, I think was $1300.

Exactly how long would it be before Smith got sued for a no-lock model ND? Less than a NY minute, IMO.
Lawyers run gun companies now, sadly. I bet many families could live comfortably on the insurance premiums that gun companies get charged, IMO.

Internals on the new Pythons are completely different; thus the trigger will be different as well.
My Python cannot out-shoot my King Cobra, costing hundreds of $$$ less.
P.T. Barnum will need to look elsewhere; I learned my lesson on Pythons.

No, it's MSRP.
Street price is generally 10% below MSRP on any given gun. But dealers will most likely try to make bank on the first batch run, IMO. I can't blame them.

Define "beating".................
Wanna buy my 3" SS Python since you love yours so much? If I could get my money back, I'd sell it in a NY minute.

The Prancing Pony is exactly why they’re worth what they’re asking. Have you ever seen a 586 go for over $2500? No, me neither. Value is arbitrary. They’re worth whatever the highest bidder pays.
They’re just selling the name? Have you bought a couple? Have you bought one? Look at the thread entitles something like “I bought a Colt for my 40 year anniversary” I’ve posted a couple of my better targets, 27, and 30 YARDS, not feet. If I can do that, think of what a good shooter, or a Ransom Rest could do.
I will define “beating” for you…. I was in the local gunshop for the first time in a few weeks, the other day. They normally don’t stock S&Ws. I asked to see the only Smith they had; a newish h-hole 686. I asked if it was used. It looked awful. I think the price was around $900. The guy behind the counter said it was Smith’s distressed look. I don’t know if he was kidding or not. Maybe that is the new marketing strategy for selling new guns that look like abused old guns. I don’t know.
What do you think the value of the h-hole Smiths are going to be once the non lock guns come out? The better investment is the gun with the Prancing Pony.

S&W would be fools to keep making the hole revolvers when the gun folks on every forum that I frequent, know that the lock is going away.
Unless some like that part of history.

45 Colt Anaconda or 2.5” blue Python? Originals of both of those are $2-3k

It just takes a little patience! And that’s tough! HOPEFULLY, the shorty blued ones will come down in price eventually.

Colt was doing a $100 gift card late last year on Pythons and some other Colts.
Birmingham Pistol Warehouse, does not charge tax. Now, they don’t have everything but they had a few 2.5’s in, cheaper than the other lengths.
FWIW, kygunco does not charge tax either. Their selection is pretty broad.

KYGun Co isn't too broad, IMO. No Beretta, no FN, no Walther, no Anshutz, no Browning.
Decent pricing, I'll give them that.

Man……. I swore up and down, I would have bet money that Colt was going to chamber the Anaconda in 454 instead of 45 Colt.
Oh well. Brave handloaders will load that gun to its potential. Cut down 454 brass, and load the round long….. I never give up. lol.
The Anaconda is a lot more gun than the 44 Magnum needs.

Colt was planning on a .454 Anaconda...designed the revolver for it. But...I understand they've run into some kind of engineering issue...what I don't know. So...for the time being at least...if not permanently...the .454 has been shelved.
Whether the issue is insurmountable...economically or otherwise is unknown to me.
I'm bummed about that...was really looking forward to owning a .454 Anaconda. I like my Freedom Arms Model 83 .454...but it's a lot of gun. The Anaconda is more to my liking.
Now...if Colt would chamber the Python in 10mm or reintroduce the New Frontier in 10mm...I'd be a really happy camper!
