I picked this old Remington 510-X Targetmaster a couple of weeks back. It had a Weaver C6 that has been replaced with a Weaver 2-6. Pretty accurate at 25 yards (very windy today)

ole .22s are a hobby of mine, And they can be just as accurate as any modern .22.
One of my best shooters is from 1925, We shoot 2-3" groups at the 100 yard line with bulk pack ammo! I sometimes wonder what it would do with match grade stuff!
Enjoy and Squirrels beware!

David
I have had every model of the old 500 series Remingtons and have yet to find one that didnt shoot almost as good as a target rifle. One of my best shooters and game getters was a 514 that I paid $10.00 for.
FWIW those guns seem to love subsonic ammo

Is that a Nylon 66 front sight on that 510, or did they come that way at one time? Mine just has the Marble's type bead; I wish it was set up for a scope. Great little rifles.

Very nice Remington David. I wouldn't mind having it in my small collection.
Winchesters, especially with grooved receivers, are as rare as hens teeth around here. That's the only major brand I don't have.

I love the old 500 series Remington .22 rifles. My 511 has taken more squirrels that I can count and she is still very accurate. Your 510 is a fine looking rifle.

Another fan of the 500 series Remingtons. It is amazing at how well they shoot. Your 510 looks to be in beautiful condition. Does it have a large blade front sight of some sort or does it just look that way in the picture?

David,
I'm thinking that would make a fine squirrel hunting rifle!!
Good shooting!
