Default Great .22 rifle, CZ 452 Military Trainer (pics)...

Picked up another .22 rifle the other day, a CZ 452 Military Trainer. Our club has monthly 50 yard .22 Bench Rest Competitions, and the guys with CZ rifles have been ruling the matches. One match was won by a ten year old girl shooting a scoped CZ "Scout" youth model, perfect score, ten rounds, ten "X". The guys with Anschutz rifles have given up and bought CZ's....

I liked the looks of the 452 Military Trainer, plain hardwood stock, tangient rear sight gradiated to 200 meters. My dealer got me one for $383 incuding all taxes and fees. You can pay $65 more and get the "Lux" version with a walnut stock.

Took it to the range this morning and found it to be a great shooting rifle, once you zero the sights, you slide the tangient sight to the desired yardage, (I tried it at 25, 50, 75 and 100 yards) and your target is doomed! Better than a scoped .22, no hold over or guessing at longer ranges, just aim dead on.

Best group at 50 yards was dime sized, at 100 yards group size was about 1 1/2 -2 inches, all with iron sights. The reciever is grooved for mounting a scope, but I'll wait until I'm too old for iron sights to scope this one.

Another great feature of this rifle is the trigger is easily adjusted for trigger pull, takeup and over travel.

Yes the CZs are fine rifles, I had a 452 Trainer. It shot very well but needed some trigger work, so I installed a lighter spring and made a trigger stop, then I bedded the action and the barrel up to the lug. I had the trigger breaking like glass at 22oz then mounted Weaver 4x Rimfire scope on it. After all that work I sold it because it just sat there while my Kimber got all the use.

I've also got one; an early Brno Model-1. Not much to look at, but it's a sweet shooter. Took 2nd place in a rimfire sporter competition with it a couple of years ago; lost to another CZ. Great rifles. -S2

Added a couple of photos:

Exclamation If you want to replace the action screws

I have CZ452 American. If you want to replace the action screws this is one companies products for consideration. Its easier to torque the action in place correctly.

CZ is what Remington should be.

I have a 452FS and like other CZ .22 this one is a tack driver also. I did put a straight tube 4x post reticle scope on it.

CZ does build an amazing rifle.

I passed up 2 of the trainers while on a road trip through Iowa a couple of years ago. Scheels had them marked down to $189. I wanted to buy them so bad but the store was ready to close and car was packed to the gills and it was a long ways back to Montana. One of the rifles had a plain looking stock but the other one had a nicely figured stock on it.

Somebody got a heck of a deal.

I have a CZ 452 American also. One of the best 22lr right out of the box.

Dennis40x,

Do they have a web site. I found JP rifles?
I tore my action screws up when I first got the rifle even with gunsmithing drivers. I called CZ and they said many were over torqued and sent me new ones right away. Rimfiretechnologies has some nice ones also.

Never mind, I found it. Gonna order some. Thanks!
