d3k7 is a Banned Scammer

I recently posted a WTB for a Savage 1915 magazine. These are extremely hard to find at any price. I got this in response almost immediately, quoted:

d3k7: How many magazine do you need?

Me: One. Send pictures of both sides and the top.

If you don't have one, pictures would be almost impossible to find. I have not heard back since my request for pics and don't expect I will.

Flags to me -

1) Join date 8-5-17
2) No posts
3) questionable English skills

Looks like a scammer to me. Anyone else contacted by him?

I checked him out the best I could when he replied to your WTB ad (before I dinged him and deleted his post). His IP comes up in the USA. Scammers typically use the PM system and don't post. Their profile is usually viewed by a majority of people they contact and only one other member has viewed his (until now). I can't prove he's a scammer at this point, so he hasn't been banned.

Anytime you deal with a new member, proceed with care, ask for specific photos tagged in a manner that would be difficult to fake and talk on the phone. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

IP addresses, like phone numbers can be spoofed, but of course if it comes back from Nigeria there's no doubt. Ask for a picture on a current newspaper or (better yet) with the person's driver license in the photo.

He responded about 8 hours after the ad was placed and a google search for "Savage 1915 magazine" does come up with the ad. It's possible he joined because he has some for sale.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was a scammer, but I'm not comfortable banning him based on suspicion. I'll ban him if I receive additional supporting evidence.

I totally agree. I still haven't heard from him and frankly don't expect to. I started this thread simply to alert this group to the presence of a POSSIBLE scammer. He may still be searching for pictures, other than the ones I have posted/sent various places in my search. It would be funny to see my own pics sent back to me as an offer to sell.

Ok, here's your confirmation. He just sent me a PM that he has a gold 3 1/2" box for pre 27. shows 0 posts on his specs. I asked for pics too.

I had already asked for a pic of the box to be sent to my email. He sent a pic of a 8 3/8's 44mag wooden presentation box. Scammer or he doesn't know the difference in pre 27 and a 44 mag, nor a gold box and a wooden presentation one. Or a 3 1/2" bbl from a 8 3/8". His first PM to my WTB was 50 mins after my initial post.
