Anybody have any thoughts towards a good IWB holster for the 442? Don't know what I should get.

Sideguard makes a nice simple IWB....I have found that with a 15 ounce gun less is more...you can get it with a clip too....both are offset for added concealment.....pic borrowed from another member here...:)

Hi:
I use a "Barami Grip" on My 642, 638, and 442.
Jimmy

I use the "Barami Grip" on my 642 as well. It's quick on and off and it just dissapears with a t-shirt and shorts.

I use a cheap and simple Uncle Mikes for my 642. It's light weight, cheap, comfortable and cheap. The gun stays secure all day and I very often forget about it. It's also cheap. My girlfriend doesn't even know I'm carrying it most of the time.

Did I mention it's cheap? Cost wise, not quality. I've been wearing the same one for over a year now.

It's made of whatever kind of cloth like material, so it's not stiff like leather.

Yep, and that is one of the main reasons I prefer the UM for my 340PD and 642 over the other pocket holsters which seem unnecessarily thick to me. I've tried several of the more popular leather pocket holsters and keep coming back to the the thin and functional UM. The leather pocket holsters feel too much like a small brick in the pocket, the UM not so much.

+1 on the Barami Hip Grip. No holster required. I slip mine into my right front Levi's pocket, and it disappears under a tail-out shirt. As an option, just tuck it into your waistband. Keeps the grip high and the gun low. Use the Hip Grip with a grip adapter to give you something more substantial to hold on to. Here's the idea on a 442:

Sip -

Because I thought the lack of a lock was more important to show!

I don't have a pic of this particular gun from the other side, but here's a 649 and a 640 with the identical setup from the right side:

Jeremy,

I am looking around for a 'minimalist' IWB for my 442.

I'm leaning towards something from either Comp-Tac's, such as their Pro Undercover (~55 dol), something from Fist, like the 1AK in Kydex or Ultra Thin Kydex (~45 dol.), or maybe something from High Noon Holster's, like the Bare Asset (~25 dol).

There's a lot of nice stuff out there.

Lobo makes nice holster's too. I have an OWB snap-on on order for my G19.

I recently picked up a Desantis Pro Stealth. It's designed for the 2" J's but it also fits my 908. I believe the only difference between the J frame model and the semi-auto model of this holster is an attached mag pouch which personally, I can take or leave. I wear it at about 2 o'clock, so far not even the wife's the wiser.

I also think less is more with a 442...I use very minimal horsehide offset clip from Del Fati but he is 2 years out right now....I also have a High Noon bare asset for my SP101...although it's not as form fitting as my Del Fatti, it works very well and the leather is really thin and "glovelike"....you can't go wrong with it for 25 bucks...also, the clip holds like a vise...

Well, I'm glad my eyeglasses prescription is not screwed up: it really is a 2 year backlog. Mr. Del Fatti needs to get his kids into the family business and quick.

I use two holsters for IWB with my J Frames. My favorite is a K&D Thunder Bird (Which can be IWB or OWB). My next preference is a McDaniel II from Andrews Leather. In the past I had a Fist kydex model which split and was never very comfortable anyways.

K&D is not taking new orders right at this moment as he reorganizes his business so that he can preserve his sanity and still offer the great stuff he makes. Andrews has a wait of a couple of months on his stock items unless you catch him at a show with some inventory. All the really good makers have a bit of a wait and are worth it.

I just received an IWB for my Colt D/S from J. W. O'Rourke. It's an old-time-style rig with a very strong metal clip. Give him a try.
