I recently owned a real nice S&W Model 10-2, 4 inch, good bluing, no rust pits. Carried the revolver loaded with CCI Snake Shot, inside a good leather zipper gun pouch on my lawn mower. Inside the pouch was also a HKS Speed loader with 38 cal +P ammo, along with a pack of spare CCI Snake shot. We've shot a lot of snakes... etc together. The other day while cleaning my mower my gun pouch slid off and onto the ground. Didn't notice that. So... started up the mower & drove off. The mower is a John Deere Z-Trac with 24 horse power. As I came back around I heard a loud "Kerchunk". Looking back I saw my gun pouch shredded in the grass. Walking back i didn't see my S&W Model 10. But.. there on the ground were pieces of my nice gun. At the "scene" i found the side plate, cylinder spring, & several CCI Snake shot, 38 caliber +P, parts of the speed loader, as well as pieces of the Hogue rubber grip i had recently put on it. Searching further ... out about 10 feet was the cylinder with a slice in it... 20 feet out the barrel with a slice in it, and finally out 225 feet was the gun frame. Think i've accounted for all the bullets. Have completed my "crime scene search" & have accounted for all the pieces but the trigger which i may never find. Only one bullet had fired. Do you think S&W will cover this under their warranty? Got to have a decent funeral for my old friend otherwise.
