Well, after a lot of looking around and comtemplating it, I finally got a S & W revolver. Up until now I have been satisfied with the S & W autos and Colt Revolvers. But I wanted to try a 6" barrel also, which I have not owned previously. So this week I got a 6" Model 19-5, which looked like it needed a good home. It is not cosmetically perfect, but I believe I can clean up some of the minor rust spots, and bring it back to life. Hopefully it will come in the next week, but in the meantime, here is a photo.
Only bad thing is this takes the thrill out of searching to buy something at the gun show this weekend. Any thoughts on this model would be appreciated.

You can never go wrong with a S&W model 19.But now you will want a 4" and then a 2.5" model:D I have three model 19's so far and they are all great shooters. The model 19 fits in the hand the best and looks good too.

Nice gun. You should like it. There have been some reports of the forcing cone cracking with the use of 110 - 125 gr. Magnum loads in them. If you shoot magnums in it go with the heavier bullet weights. The 38 Special +P in the 110 - 125 Gr. loads are fine. The 19 is a classic lawman's gun. It was designed with the help of lawmen for lawmen.

Model 19-3

I've had a love affair with 19s and 66s for decades! Just bought a 19-3 like yours for too much money, but can't fall in love with money. Mine is an old dog that someone Parkerized. I suspect from the innards that this was a lawman's carry gun as the workings are crisp and smooth. Yours makes mine look like a small boat anchor but she's a sweet shooter! I think this is my 5th 19/66...from 2.5 to 3, 4 and 6 inches. Owning most guns is like a great date...owning most S&W's is a life long dream, especially the older ones! Enjoy!

Hi,
Great looking M19. I bought back in May a 19-4 6 inch. It has some rust like yours but I was able to get most of the rust removed. I took the revolver to the range for the first time two weeks ago. Boy, is this revolver accurate. The first four shots I nailed in the center of the X ring. Distance was 15 yards. Trigger is very smooth. I lucked into this M19. I paid $269 out the door. This revolver will be my number one range revolver. I know yours will be the same.

Good luck,

I have a twin to your's that think's it's a K-38! I think you are gonna like that one. Oh yeah, you do have something to look for at the show, a four inch and a two and a half inch 19!
