good side arm to complement the 15-22

While not a practical CCW weapon, there is a pistol version of the 15-22 and they share the same magazines and other parts!! Single point sling and there you go. :D

I have an "American Classic II" Tactical in 45ACP, blued version. Also have a blued Kimber .22lr conversion for it. Changeover takes less than a minute, and you have the best of both worlds. 45's loaded up if you want to carry it or use it for home defense, .22lr's for blasting away with the same ammo your 15-22 shoots. What's not to like ??? Shoo
P.S. The Metro Arms ACII Tactical can usually be had for under $450 new, and mine rocks !!! Slide to frame fit is incredible for a 1911 in this price range. This is a best buy in affordable 1911's in my opinion

I have Glocks, XDs and a Smith M&P 9c

I love them all; the M&P may have a slight edge based on nothing more than feel to me. It may be different for you.

The only real way to know is to at least handle them, but much better to shoot them.

Hey Brett, Nothing wrong with an expensive, sexy Italian !!! Nice Beretta ! Here's my one and only other 1911:
Rock Island Armory 1911. I paid $440 for this new one, $30 for shipping and $30 for the Herrett grips. Nice gun in my opinion for $500, and it's way more accurate than I am !!! Has not missed a beat yet either. You may want to check them out, Shoo

I have a Rock Island GI that's at the shop getting an ambi safety (lefty here), long trigger, and beavertail. When it gets back it should be a tack driver.

I also have a Sig 226 CPO that I got for $550

I can tell you my Mom's Hubby paid a LOT more for his Springfield 1911, I forget what model 1911 since they make like 50 of them! :) It's stainless with wood grips and rubber grips.

Springfield Loaded ($700 range) was at the top of my list since it came with everything I wanted. They're great guns. I was offered a GI RIA for pretty darn cheap and figured the money saved would easily cover the parts and service to get it how I want plus some ammo and mags.

Came with the checkered grips instead of the stock smooth junky ones, and the arched MSH that fits me better. It's getting a Caspian Trik flat trigger, extended ambidextrous safety, beavertail grip safety (drop in, no frame cutting), and a Wilson hammer. It's been gone for too long though, and my smith is getting surgery so it'll be a while before I get it back. Future mods will be a new finish, Trijicon block night sights, and perhaps a magwell. I'll be putting Pachmayr wrap grips on it probably.

Very nice ! I like it now but would love to see a picture when you are done with your mods. Keep us posted, Shoo

How about the m&p 15-22 pistol? :) Seriously for me it's what you are somfortable with. I have my colt defender 45 auto, its small, molds to your hand with the rubber grip and easily concealable with some serious knockdown power for its size.

Okay, how's about one of these ??? I've got $125 total invested, 2 barrels, 2 mags, mine runs flawlessly and eats WallyWorld Federal bulk ammo like it's going out of style !!! Great fun ! Shoo

Randy,

My bud has that same pistol, it does shoot great. But if we're talking absolute accuracy, I gotta say the Mark II and III Ruger is by far one of the best shooting 22LR pistols I've had my hands on :)

Ever shot a S&W M41? That is a sweet target pistol. Blows the Rugers out of the water, but it's 2-3x the price.

My friend has an S&W 22 that looks like the 41, I will have to check the model number. Gotta say, not impressed! Perhaps the 41 is some sort of ultra grade target version of his, but his looks very similar to the photos I just looked up.

The 41 is on a different level than a 22a but I gotta say my 22a will hang with my mkII slabside comp. But if you want a true accu. Pistol my wife just got me a vostok toz 35... it makes all other "target" pistols I've fired look like toys

Here's how my 22S does at 50 yards with a BSA 2X scope using my range bad as a rest. Shooting pistols at 50yds and beyond is a lot of fun. Usually don't shoot at paper.... soda cans and shotgun shells with the 22S at the Plinking range is a lot more fun.

Bring down that newfangled critter you call a pistol and lets give it a workout. :D
