Crimson Trace laser grips

Received and installed my laser grips yesterday..can't wait to sight them at the range..I know they come sighted at 50 ft...Is there an ideal distance to sight them in for defensive carry..

Congratulations on your CT grips, I am sure they will serve you well. I have 4 sets of CT grips and have had no problem with any of them. I also have 1 laser MAX, I hate and 1 Insight Tech (new 380 BG) still getting use to.

If you use the 50' you should be good for point blank out to "you should rethink your engagement range". I have played around with my 1911 with CT grips and can easily hit 100m steel targets at night with it for range demonstrations, but for self defense, I keep all my others set at 50'

Continue to do good range practice and establish good muscle memory/motor skills, and you will find your sweet spot range you are comfortable with.

Remember the first fast accurate shot goes home, and that needs to be you!

I agree with SF, however, I've "zero-ed" my CTC grips to 45' only because the range I normally shoot at uses increments of 5 yds along the wall. Therefore, I used the 15 yd line. Oh btw, when I tried them at another range that uses the digital range setter, they were accruated at 50 ft too.

Thanks..SD180A....50' it is...I went to the range today and shot a hundred rounds each on my m&p9c and taurus TCP..the m&p shot beautifully..the tcp is going to take some getting use to..now I know why they say these pocket pistols are not range guns..my hand and trigger finger still hurts from the experience..lol..both lasers where accurate at 50'.

Glad that they are working out for you moody. Like my SF brother there I also own 4 sets (1911, M9, SIG 226 and a M4 VFG). I also used to train with mine out to 100m at night. Don't now that I'm retired as I only have a 40 yd range max in the backyard when home. If you haven't watched CT training DVD I highly suggest it. I've used a lot of those techinques and a few other in Iraq clearing buildings and when driving. The DVD is free from CTC which you can request on their webpage.

Don't think this is a hijack; please delete it if it is. I'm hoping to get some experienced advice on the CT laser grip. My eyes are not what they used to be and I'm thinking of installing a DeltaPoint, RMR, etc type sight on my M&P 45c. Looks like the sights will run from 3-500 and around 200 to mill the slide. My question is, would a laser grip be a better way to go? Less bulk and less $ are strong arguments in my opinion.

Someone must have fought this battle by now & I'm hopeful you'll respond.

While I have used mirco red dots (JPoint) on top of an ACOG on my M4, I do not have any experience with them on a pistol. The only advantage that I can see is if your shooting in bright sun light. The Red Dots maybe easyier to pick up. Batteries on them seem to be needing changed every 6-12mos in my experience. I think that the CTC grips would be a better and less expensive route. I've used both systems in combat in Iraq so they do hold up and either are a plus to the iron sights for any stressful shooting.
