I have a 629 with 3" barrel. Anyone care to suggest quality leather belt (outside) holster -- no thumb breal and rides high & tight. My usual holsters are sparks, Alessi, and Galco--- loking for a change. 5 Shot leather looks appealing. thanks, Dave

Not wanting a thumb break you might look at something in horse hide. It's lighter, thinner, stiffer and tougher than cow and will hold its shape and retention abilities longer. Kramer makes good holsters in horse hide.

I highly recommend a custom made holster from Logo Gun Leather. My experiance with two holsters made for me is they are higher quality and less expensive than Galco, plus I get what I want. Very professional to deal with and the turn around time on mine took about a month.

Here are the one's I've ordered from Lobo;
Top is a No 1 Pancake for a 3 inch K frame model 65, no thumb break but with a inner hammer shield. Color is cordovan brown.

Bottom is for a J frame model 442, No 1 Pancake in cordovan brown with basketweave. I really like the basket weave and now wish I'd ordered the first one with it.

From years of experience, I suggest having a thumb break for several reasons.

A person cannot have too much retention.
